My father died exactly one year ago. On this day, I listen back the music we had on his funeral, and while it was a very sad event of course, I still have good memories about the service because it was so good and perfect. After re listening that music from the funeral now 1 year later, I listen to the OST of Life Beyond. Why? Because I can honestly say from ALL the videos EVER made on KZbin since 2005, this is the best, most inspiring, and hopeful documentary/ video I have EVER seen! And those are the feelings I also get for the future when I listen to the music. The entire Life Beyond series actually made me more optimistic and hopeful in the shitty world we live in today. Quite an achievement.. I can not thank you enough for this exceptional work, something we might see only once in our lifetime ❤

It’s not even a documentary. It’s just taking speeches/interviews/videos from other people - some people that even have KZbin channels - and mashing them together into one video with standard B-roll graphics of space to rack up millions of views while the smaller channels that this stuff is taken from barely gets a fraction of recognition or views … and you cheer it on. 🙄 If anything, I’d much rather see people give all the credit to the actual ones that made videos and did talks/interviews on the topics that this channel took their audio from. People want to whine and complain about AI taking from people … yet we give praise to this stuff and actually consider them “documentaries”? And you even gave them _money_ for it? Tsk, tsk, tsk … For example: I’d rather see people throw money to channels like Cool Worlds (whose voice is used in this video) as they’re actually professionals in the field doing studies/research with space-related topics - stuff that can actually bring about a real-world impact outside of some video feelgoodisms via theatrical musicals and fancy graphics.

I think some of the original animations were tweaked too 55:25 like I don't remember there being so many orange lights in this cosmic dust intro scene, also the number of lines in the 1:01:01 animation showing faster technological evolution weren't always that high were they? There might be a ton of changes so we might not get to notice ever notice all of them actually, but the original LB Chapters 1 and 2 felt more well put together and had smoother choreography, though there does seem to be more added information and content in this remastered version. LB C2 is something I always keep coming back to a couple times a year so I know.

How though? This was a load of crap. A 2 hour long intro scene with such poor quality writing it could have been a 3rd grade book report. Are all the people commenting here bots? Nothing about this channel makes any sense, I swear I've fallen into an episode of Black Mirror and this is the mind numbing AI future.
@yurkdawg3 ай бұрын
@@jakecooper5855 I admit my statement was absurdly hyperbolic. And since watching it a couple more times I no longer think it is all *that* great. But in a world, as you way, of AI junk, this video touched me. I pondered why this is the case, as things like Carl Sagan's original book "Cosmos" is objectively better (even at the goal of artistically simplifying topics normally too complex without a degree.) My point is that I don't mind that it's "dumbed down" - that's part of the point. But I share your frustrations regarding this era of souless AI narrations cheapening tasks we used to think the sole provence of, well, what mant call a "soul." ...On the other hand, doesn't the fact that AI generated narrations suck negate my last statement and give some hope? Maybe not. In the meantime at the very least I will not apologize for being positive....I regret being hyperbolic yes, but I'll never apologize for being honestly positive.

@@yurkdawg You're an extremely interesting person, which I mean in a positive way. I'm very used to AI space videos, it's a shame how they have taken over and it's hard to trust any channel now. I don't know whether this channel is AI, the writing is almost too basic to be AI. Unless it's a foreign language AI that's been translated into English, which would explain some of the wording. What I'm really not understanding is why does this channel have nearly 3m subs, and why does this video have so many overwhelmingly positive comments in only a couple of months? To be honest I did not think you were a real person. The entire channel feels artificial and I assumed all the comments were botted. I still believe it's mostly artificial though, the reaction to this video in a very short time is such an outlier to normal.
@yurkdawg3 ай бұрын
@@jakecooper5855 why thank you - usually I try to avoid negativity online, but I'm glad I responded to you. As I suspected your general concerns about AI are warranted. But I'm mainly responding because you just kind of blew my mind. Do you believe in Synchronicities? As a professional engineer and wannabe scientist I used to scoff at the idea. And while my rational side understands that I likely gave off some clue to what I am about to tell you, the coincidence is still astounding. I mentioned that I am an "Engineer" and while I am a software engineer both by education and experience, it is much more accurate to say that I am a *former* engineer. I am currently unemployed and I am so disallusioned with the direction that AI is going in that I no longer have any passion (or any desire at all) to work on the side of something I see as a potentially fatal evil. At the very least, my love of genius storytelling and fascinating discourse (skills I previously thought the sole domain of consciousness) is at least disturbing to me on a fundamental. But here's where you blew my mind: over the past week or so I've been discussing these issues and trying to find ideas on something to do with my life. Just a few days ago, we honed in on an idea of trying to use my programming skills to try to write something to definitely seek out and determine if something was created by a human or faked by AI. This is a huge problem but I was thinking I was going to start with what bothers me the most: not knowing for sure if the people I'm talking with at places like here or Reddit are real or not. (Since I hate what people like me are doing in this area, instead of giving up on one of the only things in life I'm any good at, maybe I can use my knowledge for good...."right fire with fire" if you pardon the cliche.) I'm not sure if I can yet make anything happen with it. The concept of a "Turing Test" is as old as computing itself. But it's all I've been thinking about these last few days and I may have some ideas that might even help. Plus I doubt many other computer people (unfortunately) share my morals and fears. Lol sorry I'm rambling now...to wrap up: And without even saying any of this, your response hit on *exactly* these ideas without me even discussing it directly! Again I'm not sure I believe in Synchronicities, but one can do worse than Carl Jung if you are going to dabble outside of materialism into metaphysics. Actually if this helps inspire me to follow through with this and I end up making something helpful, I suppose the question is irrelevant. So once again thank you. The feeling that I am talking with an interesting person is mutual. I don't want to live in a world where we can no longer tell the difference. I earlier regretted my pentient for hyperbole. But I could see this trend leading to something like a virtual zombie apocalypse. One with brainless AI outnumbering thinking beings...that scares the heck out of me. And I enjoy and want to protect real conversations like this Enough to concentrate all my attention and effort to trying to help avert it. Sorry for the length, thanks for reading and wish me luck!
@yurkdawg3 ай бұрын
@@jakecooper5855 oh crap I'm sorry for all that book length response, I forgot to mention: melodysheep is definitely a real person. This video is a combined/remastered version putting together three separate videos he created over the past few years. So the videos had the time to gather a large view/subscriber count prior to the release of this compendium. That's the reason that the number of likes and positive reviews in such a short amount of time appears implausible. In any other instance I could think of, the insane number of watches/likes/glowing reviews would definitely be AI and/or some other bot manipulation shenanigans. ...All more reasons that some sort of tool that could easily/automatically figure these things out would be useful eh? (I guess I contradict my own point if some sort of meta-data manipulation tool would probably incorrectly flag this video subsequent comments as likely manipulated AI, since that would be likely. But from my thoughts/notes/initial requirements gathering, I understand this is NOT going to be an easy nor trivial problem. But no problem is a worthwhile challenge if it isn't a challenge in the first place! 🤗) (Sorry again for the long text again. I have always been far too verbose, especially when something inspires me...and although I don't expect nor require any feedback, unless I am misreading you (lol or if you are just a really good AI. 😵💫) I not only think you empathize with my goals, but have the rare and valuable talent for cutting through any BS (even when it is unintended such as my original overly gushing "review.") and not letting politeness allow potentially critical issues go unchecked. Thus I REALLY value and appreciate any and all advice you have for me. Again I have no right to demand anything from you. Plus you already both challenged and intuitively nailed the crux of an issue that means a lot to me. So even if you think I am an arrogant ignoramus (I.e. unconsciously ignorant) even believing I have any chance to find some way to help the issue, I welcome any appreciate anything you have to say. PS: Sure AI Astronomy videos (or AI "anything") suck, and I could (and sometimes do) lose sleep over many of the issues of our time. But I cannot do anything about most of that (...yet 😉) so I try my best to not waste energy on things I cannot change. But more importantly, even with all the BS and existential and societal crises, with all the new exoplanets being discovered, the James Webb finally online already making great discoveries, Ligo actually working as the most precise tool ever made and opening up a whole new type of Gravitational Wave Astronomy, etc etc etc....isn't it wonderful to be living in such an interesting momentous time?!

Sometimes in my life I have thought to myself that I wish I lived in a different house, another street, a quieter town even a far off country, but then I look out of my window and up to the stars after watching Life Beyond by Melodysheep and I am cured of such wishes. How lucky we humans are to be part of all this. Thank you melodysheep for all your work. I am always astounded by the portrayal you produce.

I love to believe that for every intelligent alien world that's on our level and beyond who have yet to meet other intelligent lifeforms, there's a discussion as huge as ours regarding the fermi paradox and alien life. Which implies that it's very highly likely that every intelligent alien civilization has an alien Life Beyond series made by an alien Melodysheep.

Although I personally would turn myself inside out to find another species, given our history I consider it FAR too dangerous. For them not us. I think as a species we are a failure. Less advanced than us we’d find a way to use them, more advanced and we’d get a whole new range of weapons, and we’d find a way of turning even the best of technology into something deadly. We are a contamination, and I hope we never get the chance to spread,
@AbhishekSanyalTGV6 ай бұрын
The universe is only 14 billion years old. To our knowledge, there is definitely no species out there with trillions of years worth of experience in technology 😊 But I agree that a friendly advanced species can catapult our advancement in science by sharing their tech with us
