MY LOVES ♥️♥️♥️♥️ IM SO PROUD OF THEM ♥️♥️ been supporting them since Literally day 1 (NO.MERCY) and I am just so insanely proud of how far they've gotten since that show! A fan that has been with the genre [kpop] knows some decisions aren't solely the idols or actors/actresses themselves (ex. Weekly Idol, where they say the PDnim chooses which idols to come, not the MC's since they are only MC's -ormaybeitwasdefconn'schoiceidr- but that could also have been scripted. Or not scripted and put in since it's funny). For me, I'm Korean myself and my parents knew reality (cuz I'm apparently that one naive trashpoopfangirl) and I just realized my favorite groups had gotten either unnoticeable nose jobs or PS. (very heartbreaking moment). So basically, for reasons like these it's hard to tell if it was their idea themselves or just the PD). Below is a long-a rant of desultory and so I added this above because I lost track of what I was talking about below. [lol started and ended with below] I also agree with you about not understanding why MX chose rush over hero. Personally, Hero is my all-time favorite of theirs (for two reasons, one of which being the first song I listened from them and the second because omgtheirbodies//slapped) and so Rush is like... a song which just goes over my head once it's done. I also might like Hero just because it kind of has a similar style to BTS... and I'm a huge part of the ARMY so... biased opinions aside, for me artists shouldn't care if they use a similar style like another artist. For American rap they all the sound the same: sjfhfihfisufhsuirfdkksjghs some-slow-section-thats-understandable sjfosdfshfi. Also, I feel like from 2014-2015 the music of both American pop and kpop there has been a lot of usage of BANGS (BTS, BIGBANG, and the artists in which I've heard bangs). All in all... I think it's not the artists, but the entertainment or manager themselves. I mean, for all we know if they did some nose jobs and PS to please us then a few videos that are planned won't hurt, is what they might be thinking. Like Bangtan Bombs, some of them were planned (like their 'yahhhh' one). Some might seem natural, but at the same time not natural like it's been scripted (It's Tricky is title -lol the Engrish fail- is also a bomb (which is hilarious)).
