katie cassidy was single handedly the best damn thing about this show and she basically carried it on her shoulders. heather locklear was a much needed addition to have a signature villain. it sucks that right when the show found it's footing it got cancelled. the second season would've been the campy, over the top, scandalous drama in the true sense of melrose place that we all know and love

But they'd say she had her with someone else HAHAHA! Jack, when he hit her, could have gotten her pregnant and Palmer could have faked her death like he did back then and she could have had the baby somewhere private and given it away and forgotten all about it.

This actually makes for a good ending of the series. All of the backstabbing, manipulating, lying, etc was made for this moment. A new queen of PR is made. A new Amanda Woodward arrives but at what cost? The next generation of Melrose Place continues.

The biggest mistake rhe show made was in the very first episode....killing Sydney off. One of the most popular characters on this show, and they kill her off. I watched all the episodes and really supported it, but the show was doomed from the start.

They lost their way when they didn’t pair Riley and Auggie together(Colin and Jessica jad insane chemistry) and sometimes I feel like I’m the only one who actually liked Violet on the show halfway through they were just being a$$holes to her, so much potential for both characters but they panicked brought back Amanda(should have been done without axing one of the cast regardless and some random idiot they forced Riley to start dating like wtf? I still love like the first 10 episodes but that’s about it. MP2 had alot of potential but the writing and direction lost their way.

If only the producers of this Melrose Place remembered during the last season of the original Melrose Place, that Eve remembered it was Amanda who killed that guy that was trying to rape her not Eve. Amanda should've gone to jail for that but I guess the producers of this Melrose Place forgot about that. At least Amanda finally got her just desserts for being such an awful human being. Amanda destroyed no one but herself with her treacherous ways.

Did I mention that there were exactly 1.39 million viewers for the entire first season of Melrose Place (broadcasted by the CW for 2009-10)? The rating was so low it didn't even hit the target audience (around approximately 20.00 million or less).

Samuel Wang The original had bad viewership in season 1 until Amanda came. I recently watched the full series and season 1 was hard to stomach. The reboot was better except Ashley Simpson. Truly a horrible actress.

Did I mentioned I met Laura Leighton's stand-in for the body bag scene where Michael supposedly faked her death. She told me the producers were scrambling on set, watching the season 5 finale and 6 premiere. They didn't know what to do. That's why she said the lie of "Someone from my past. They said they'd kill my husband." All they needed to do was have Carter stalk her and fake the death and he died leaving her his money to buy MP. All the stuff they came up with were LIES and Amanda and Syd would never work together in any way.

I told you guys I met Laura Leighton's stand in for the body bag scene of episode 3, right? Michael faking her death...SO UNBELIEVABLE! She told me producers were scrambling, watching tapes. "How are we gonna say she faked her death?!" They only watched the season 5 finale and 6 premiere. They didn't watch a few episodes earlier. CARTER! FREAKING CARTER! He would have been PERFECT to fake it! He died and she inherited his millions to legitly buy the building. SHE WAS POOR! I guess they didn't want me as a PA. I could have informed them of that character and maybe, just maybe they would have watched and seen he was rich. It would have made more sense and they didn't have to make up lies that Michael helped her or someone from her past blah blah blah. It was just lies. Jane...Um...let's just have her back. No explanation of Kyle or the baby from the original finale she was pregnant with. Stuff like this was so dumb. Amanda coming back and not saying how she faked her death and got away with it. Is Peter still on the Island? Nothing. Who did Syd buy MP from? Was it Lexi?

It seems after Sydney died in the original Melrose Place it was all a dream. Because the producers brought back in the new Melrose Place. I am glad the new Melrose Place got canceled. Melrose Place was a 1990's program and should have been left in the 1990's.

No, that was the last episode. I really wish they could have explained it better. Syd's faked death was pointless. Carter could hav3e faked it. She had the money when he died to buy MP from Lexi. That was the only logical way to explain that crap. Producers didn't watch several episodes before the 5th finale. They just watched tapes of when she was hit and the outcome of Michael with stupid bandages. He would have NEVER been there to see her in the hospital as he was confined to his own bed. He was just thrown through a freaking window by Peter and his hands were in surgery for the wounds. They made it like he was working and up and fine. Such B.S. That was the BIGGEST flaw of the entire series. Then they made Syd say she was an alcoholic. They didn't explain by Jane what happened to the child she was pregnant with or what became of Kyle or who did Syd buy MP from? A lot of new fans would argue with me my thoughts mean nothing. But it all is about the RETURNS. The new cast I have my thoughts, but I was solely upset about how they ruined all the returns.

No potential here at all. For what it’s worth, the remake deserved a chance but the writers negated to understand the original characters of Melrose Place. I used to love watching Heather play Amanda Woodward, written in such a way where she was likeable even though she had a mean streak but never a criminal one. The Ella/Amanda rivalry could have been written like the Allison/Amanda one where both could have been friends, working in a corporate world together where the dynamics could have been far more interesting. Laura Leighton looks stunning as Sydney, great to see the character of Jo and Micheal and Jane brought back such nostalgia. Kimberly should have been brought back to stir up some trouble, perhaps working with Sydney with the whole art painting situation. Might have made for some good continuity if even to help raise ratings for a bit.

Exactly. I know a lot of what went on there. I tried to be a mere assistant and they hired teeny boppers with blue hair and those who fell asleep on set. Had I been there on set I would have informed them of Carter, how he could have stayed in LA and saw Syd get married and faked her death. It was the only ONLY logical way to say she had the freaking money to buy MP. She was dirt poor. Amanda would have never worked with her. Well, have Michael bandaged and WORKING while she was brought in. HAHAH! So not believable! The accident was a freaking accident. There was NOBODY from her past. They brought Amanda back with no explanation of how she got away w faking her death. Jane came back...no mention of the baby she was pregnant with or Kyle. And just who did Syd buy MP from? Lexi? Or someone else? Producers didn't watch season 6 or 7 so they didn't know who the heck Lexi was.

What'd ya expect? The CW reneweing it? Well, let me ask you this. What do you think about the annual ratings per episode or season of any tv series? Oh that's right. Not everyone cares about them but they do watch the tv shows. Here's this: lagging ratings. Ever since the series was renewed (this time by the CW), the ratings were LOW. The ratings reportedly didn't hit the target audience as expected so the studio was faced with either cancelling or renewing and expect more low ratings.

This wasn’t good at all, Cassidy didn’t carry the show like Locklear did with the original, not even close. I agree with another review making Amanda turn to crime, bad writing. Locklear’s Amanda should have been of the caliber of Joan Collins in Dynasty. After all Locklear earned her spot next to Joan Collins after all these years of doing prime time soaps. Sorry but the writers were horrible with that storyline, and again Cassidy’s acting prowess was no match for Locklear. I can think of a half dozen actresses who would have been more formidable in the delivery of that character.
