Nice work. Done a bunch of repairs like that. I always charged a premium if it had to be done on the equipment like that, it’s no joke hunching over/crawling around on the ground all day. Couple tips to help you out: if you didn’t preheat the plates to 200 to 300 degrees before the first root, do it if possible, it will help you a ton on getting it to wet out. Second, put toilet paper on that seat, you don’t want to catch crabs. 3rd if you haven’t run them try esab 7018 prime rods. I find they run real good start to finish, never have bad starts (they have a graphite tip to help starts) and in 5/32 size they get shit done. Glad you’re sharing videos like this, to few people are inspiring the next generation of welders/builders 😀👍

@@MeltinMetalAnthony Curtis just had a series on building a new H-link. Maybe it's time for a collaboration with Cutting Edge Engineering? Hey , I work in construction to, and I got metal in my eye a few times and what I use is a really strong magnet. My level has a really strong magnet and I clean that thing off and then I I just use that really close to my eye and it pulls it out every time, I learned that trick when I was in Aprentice many moons ago🤙🏽 keep up the good work

for what it's worth, that's also how they get forromagnetic flakes out of your eye at the doctor. just a strong magnet on a stick and some finnesse. this does ofcourse mean that if you manage to get something non magnettic in your eye like aluminium you're in more trouble.

I had a hunks of metal in my eye and under my eye lid and had to get an MRI. I told them it was in there they took an xray and said I'm good and when they fired up that MRI i could feel that metal in my eye it started spinning and heating up but because it had been a few years it had rusted i felt it breakup and the lil peace's started spinning it felt like having lil compass needles spinning at extreme speeds in my face. As a welder/mech i feel my newer safety glasses have bounced more stuff into my eye than keeping stuff out. Metal will bounce off my cheek hit the glasses than go right into my eye 100% sucks. P.S I ordered a compact eye wash kit like you are using never knew that was a thing. I use qtips and super strong magnets to get shit out my eyes. The magnet trick goes back to ww2 for removing shrapnel from the eyes it can work fast. Good luck with the battle of the metal chips i find the safety glasses from 1970's that are huge with side blinders work the best other than a full mask. Have a good day or >>>>>GFY :0

But when I get steel or concrete in my eye. We don't have many options up here for help. Before I knew any better...I would go to the local hospital. And it would cost between 6 and 8 hundred dollars...🤢🤮 .... twice I did that. Then I learned about quick care. One hundred ten dollars....just saying. Happy welding man!
