I've used this shoe cream on old books and the results are wonderful. I recently used in on a four volume set of leather bound books published in 1879, which had issues with red rot. Klucell took care of that, and the Meltonian cream polish went on smoothly and evenly afterwards, covering scuffs and nicks, and giving the books a "revived", though not a "new" look. They still look like old books. This shoe cream is ph nuetral, not sure why someone would say not to use it on books that are NOT valuable. It also dries with no sticky residue and imparts a soft lustre when buffed. Disregard the comment below re: lanolin and neatsfoot oil, which are among the WORST things that you could apply to leather bound books! I don't work for Johnson and Johnson by the way, nor do I sell Meltonian. I'm a book preservationist who loves this product, which does MORE than just cover scratches.

I use red mahogany meltonian to patched my leather jacquard pants that I paid for really pricey, it works + brush + buff + cadillac leather lotion.
