In the old Melty Blood the Night of Wallachia distorting reality is what allowed Kohaku and Hisui to fight on the same level as the vampires and demons. The sisters are only about as powerful as normal people, Arcueid would vaporize them if she sneezed too hard. Maybe the Saint Quartz is some kind of magic that allows them to power up in Type Lumina.
