Thank you for uploading this movie. I was about 17 when this movie was filmed in the farming area where I lived. I recognize so many places in the movie. The bridge that the car drove off was the one my school bus took on the way to school. There were about 50 of us local people on the opposite river bank watching as the scene was filmed. They let us cross the bridge to get to the point from which to view the crash, but then wouldn't let us go back across the bridge to go home. I had to ride my bike about an additional 6 miles to get to the next bridge to cross the river.

This was released to theaters outside the USA under the title "The Legend of Machine Gun Kelly".

John Milus wrote this. But he quickly fell out with the producers over edits, script changes and pay. At one point, this was going to be a pilot for a TV show starring Ben Johnson as Purvis. But the deal fell through. This is the second in the American International "gangster" trilogy: - Dillinger - Melvin Purvis G-Man - The Kansas City Massacre The first was for theaters. The second and third were TV movies.

i feel bad for Thatcher at the end. kate brought him lunch when he was held captive, he was trying to return the favor, but she dont even think of this just start throwing tantrum bout how rich ppl ruined her life when rly he never did anything to her she was the one who kidnapped him at gunpoint stole money and car from his family and destroyed their house. and he still dont hold a grudge yet she holds one against him. these movies are rly good, shows how rough and scary crime was in gangland times

I fail to agree with you stance. The movie centered on one rich man. There were thousands of very rich men at that time; did they risk all they had to help the starving

This movie is very entertaining and deliberatedly funny, but it is highly unaccurate. The kidnapped guy WAS blindfolded all the time, yet he managed to collect much information. No flirting with Kelly's woman. The agent acting initially in the kidnapping of Mr Urschel (not called Covington) was NOT Purvis. No Rolls-Royce was taken. Actor Dale Robertson was very tall; Purvis was notably very short.

I LOVE the way they did the credits; a good font & big enough for anyone to read!! Also, identified each actor/character, so you knew immediately who was who!! There were a lot of historical inaccuracies, & in places, the movie was more comical than not, but all in all, it was quite entertaining. I love the old cars, the authenticity of the depressed times, & the stark contrast between the wealthy & common folk. The absolute treachery within the gang was a bit of a surprise!!

Too frivolous and light-hearted, fitting the family-friendly TV standards of the 70's. Hollywood took terrible liberties with the police procedures; getting one of his men shot outside the store and all standing out in the open to make the arrest; the scene in the stairwell would get a LE officer kxxled. Sloppy stuff for a 'G' audience. The ransom was $200,000.

HEY Mr. Purvis , There is NO such thing as a Hamburger Meat ! It’s Ground BEEF ! And there is NO such as a Hamburger !They are just BURGERS There is NO Damn HAM in them and Never was! Just Ground BEEF ! The Hamburg Steak originated in Hamburg, Germany! It's a Thick Ground Beef Steak patty cooked and topped with a brown onion mushroom gravy. The Original American style Burger & Cheeseburger originated at a Truck Stop Cafe in Athens, Tx in 1898 by a man named Uncle Dave Fletcher who introduced it at the State Fair in St.Louis, Mo in 1904 ! And if the Bacon came from a Pig born, raised, butchered and processed in Canada, then one could call it Canadian Bacon, butt actually it's a type of Ham !

"BearStar1," This rant would be of interest to some on the Food Channel, but it's TOTALLY out of place here. Falls FLAT on its face. ? WHAT were you THINKING ? BTW, it's NOT "HEY, Mr. Purvis" as he's simply a dramatized character. Instead your beef should be addressed "HEY, Mr. Milius," i.e., John Milius, writer of the script whose culinary misinformation so offended you . . . . and ONLY you.
