I decided to see what Buzz was up to these days when I stumbled upon this interview. Easily THE BEST interview I’ve ever seen with him. It felt very natural, very conversational. I like That. Thanks for doing this video!

Just discovering the Melvin’s?? How i wish i could redo that. Houdini, stag, and Lysol are some of the most mind blowing and amazing records ever. It’s no wonder how many bands site them as an influence and they never ever disappoint; live.

Buzz is spot on about the pick a woman with a job who isn't dependent on you. If someone is self sufficient and doesn't really need you, but you love each other and take care of each other anyway it's much more appreciated, because you're truly doing it out of love.

I’ve seen a lot of Buzz interviews…he seems disinterested and sort of unimpressed in this one. Still, great content though, always great to hear Buzz talk!

The woman interviewing him is just so unprepared, clueless, silly and annoying. It is infuriating and almost unwatchable. I saw it through because Buzz did, too.

Interviewer was just fine. Very pleasant respectful and had questions prepared. He was most likely down considering his best friend was having invasive surgery that very day.

@Knightberit if you still haven't heard he had to have a pretty gnarly surgery on his back so that he can keep playing. All is going well and they were just joking about the brain damage thing. Thank God for Cody!

Buzz has kept going artistically in a way that almost nobody else has for over 40 years, while seeing EVERYONE else from their time either lose it, go inactive for long periods, or just stop completely. He and Dale have never made millions and have kept an amazing work ethic the whole time that is pretty much unheard of in the music community, especially for bands that don’t make much money. It’s a lot easier to keep going for years if your band makes enough for buses and a big crew. The Melvins still tour the country in a van, and Buzz does the driving. They are among the absolute best examples of working class musicians making weird music that you can ever find.

@@AJ-xy5jiThe Melvins definitely make a reasonable stack of cash these days, which they should because they work insanely hard. They've played 1300 shows in the last 20 years. Let's assume they made $5k for each of those gigs, that's $100k each for the last 20 years. They probably average a lot more than $5k a night these days. They're not poor

Dale has said in an interview that he makes around $75,000 on a good year. Buzz might make a bit more on any backend royalties as songwriter, but these guys are solidly working class in a way that is rare in the music community. That 75k of income doesn’t go far living in California, or even in a lower income state like where I live. He and Buzz have both said they can’t afford not to tour, there is no retirement plan, no big savings waiting for them after they hang it up. They’re in the shit with all of us working folks, in ways that absolutely none of their peers were able to match or keep up with.
