Turned out great .. and getting rid of that corner worked. It made a huge difference!
@erindunnigan20897 жыл бұрын
The top right corner looked like a glacier at first. a very earthy natural look all over the canvas! except for the colors of course. very pretty!

Very pretty!! Agree it looks better when you took off the corner :) it just turned out so pretty!

Very creative and those silver areas are cool! When they are cured maybe they will not be shiny enough but you could paint some glue on and sprinkle glitter on them if you like that look. They look like a frozen wonderland, great job MD

Neena Me hmmm this is good quality paint I'd be surprised if didn't dry shiny. But thanks for the tip. It does look like winter wonderland! Maybe that will be the title :) thank you!

MelyD.artist yes just hard to see shimmer on the video so maybe what I saw was dull grey and it was actually shiny 😘

Wow! So beautiful! I’m glad you blew off the corner, that made all the difference.
@kathyprentice96537 жыл бұрын
Glad your back love your paintings. and also if you watch your video for your last painting it looks like the line was maybe from bowing the black paint back to the middle with the other colors and as far as I know resin is self leveling so it should fix the line

Wow! That is so neat looking painting with all beautful colors on it. Keep it up of good artwork, MelyD artist.

Way to step outside the norm Mel. Looks really beautiful. I believe that the better the paint the better the results. Great job.

Reminds me of the central nervous system. It's like neurotransmitters racing along a neuro-pathway. The gray looks like ganglion of nerves and the color is the electrical conduction of the neurotransmitters. Very cool Mely.

RE. black painting: Why not fill it in with black paint first (prepped as before), let it dry before resining?
@tamaramorrissette46887 жыл бұрын
very nice, I love the negative spaces in paintings. The previous painting's issue may have been weight. the weight of the paint in the middle pooled and caused it to sag in the middle. Some painters put a brace behind, such as a piece of cardboard. I wouldn't resin it until the canvas is secure. Maybe you could also add black on the edges...(not sure)
@dennisandelaineengle29726 жыл бұрын
I am glad you took the right corner of too. The finished painting is amazing. It looks like you added more silver and I like that. Elaine Engle

The tree like branching is dendritic and I think it occurs when a thinner paint touches a slightly heavier paint but I am not 100% sure of that.

Beautiful effects with the primary elements. Very unique and intriguing end results. Love the result of this and your last piece. Great experimentation on your part. You should feel good about all your successes.
@MelyDartist7 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Monica. Although I had so much trouble with the primary elements I think I got it. Not too much water or in this case none at all and they kept they're color. Thank you for your kind words, always appreciated.

You raise an intriguing question...how _DO_ you pack & ship your paintings? Do you cover them with anything (plastic wrap, wax paper,etc.) before inserting into a box? Do you crate the larger pieces?
@annerix57537 жыл бұрын
Melt, I found my way to your blowing with straw video. I really like the look of the vibrant colours against a white background; It makes the colours pop. Again I like the look of fewer colours & the fern-like look of the silver paint after drying. It makes me want to try this. Cool video. Anne

With your question about the black painting getting the edge on the one side.. I get something like that every time I use Liquitex PM. I was using canvas boards I have tried a canvas yet and other say it's because the board warping or surface not completely level?? I wonder if blowing the paint around created it to build up in those area a little more and dried before it could level out completely? Thanks for sharing your work..
@cocohodge29627 жыл бұрын
hinddee this happens to me a lot with liquitex PM. The paint puddles. It's an ongoing battle. It happens when I use the blowing technique also. The texture can be interesting.

I need to look up the difference between a dendrite and a fractal. I had the same (thou different shapes) thing happen with my Black paint and the Golden Gold flow. It was awesome. But it didn’t happen on the white.

@saralambert24997 жыл бұрын
I had that same exact thing happen to my black negative space painting!!! I thought it was because it was on a canvas panel and maybe I hadn't supported it well enough in the middle underneath. I was afraid to fix it bc the paint was tacky and almost dry after leaving it overnight.
@MelyDartist7 жыл бұрын
Sara Lambert yeah often resin is a saver whem your acrylic painting dries weird. I was thinking it could work and needed confirmation. Glad someone answered and maybe it could help in your case too!
@angelabullington61167 жыл бұрын
I LOVE the effects created with the straw. Do you think that with a 4x4" canvas would be able to get similar effects? Maybe using two colors? I really want to try this with an elementary art class and I'm trying to use supplies I already have. I'd love your thoughts!
@MelyDartist7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I've never worked on that small and these paints tend to spread SO MUCH I'm afraid you would have trouble with 4x4". I'm sure the kids will want to add more paint and if that's the case the results will not be like this at all. I'm telling you it spreads more than you think!
@joaniemerriman82377 жыл бұрын
I really love this!! How did you get that webbing/branching effect??
@jasonevans11247 жыл бұрын
to get rid of ledge with resin, do 2 resin pours, 1st just along the edge (the low part) 2nd pour then do the whole thing....you could also tape the edge for the first pour....or 1st do black paint along ridge, let dry and only do 1 resin pour. small problem doing resin on canvas versus on wood panel, is the resin pools from the weight of the resin on a loose canvas. love your work....
@MelyDartist7 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for this I will consider it. I admit I'm afraid of adding the black paint though... and yes I know about pooling I usually have to do 2 coats because of it. Thanks again! :)

MelyD.artist hi M, I'm having so much trouble finding your site on Society6. They keep saying I am already signed up but when I try to sign up I can't as they keep saying my email address is already joined up?? I just want to buy a couple of your T-shirts and I have never bought anything from them before. Then when I did sign in they said I couldn't get the 10% off because it was only for first time orders??? Really frustrating. I will keep trying but really getting sick of it as I tried all day yesterday after they sent me a welcome join email!!

I saw both videos. It seems to me that you put more paint on top of the black one and you were bolder and freer in your approach of it. And the paint spread a lot. For this white one I felt you unsure and scary right from the begining. Smaller pours of paint and little playing with it after. Maybe you wanted to much that this experiment would do something like the other. It is impossible. No two paintings are alike. And no "creative moment" can be the same. In my opinion you did not let this one have its own life. Maybe with being more loose it would have given you something you like...or maybe not. Don't take it bad, it is only my impression. I like very much what you do. I just discovered you this week and I already saw a lot od your videos. You have awsome work. I am even tempted to try this. La chose qui me retient c'est la peur de faire de gros dégâts de peinture dans ma cuisine et d'avoir à tout nettoyer car je n'ai pas vraiment de studio. Déjà que j'ai arrêté la peinture au pinceau car je salope partout...! Keep on the good work!
