This is a fantastic layout! I am a lifelong NH fan. I remember watching Shore Line action in Old Saybrook as a child. Lots of Alco power, the Super Jet hotshot intermodal, Merchants Limited, Senator, Clamdigger. This is great work with a nice assortment of diesels, enchanting scenery, and fine cinematography. I wish I lived closer. I'd sell my soul to Pat McGinnis to watch an operating session :-)

Nicely done Bob. I had a chance to actually see some New Haven equipment in service on early Penn Central mixed in with some Lehigh Valley motors. I wish I had taken photos of that. It's a shame the New Haven couldn't stay independent and thrive into the 21st century. Loved the tour here. Thanks for the ride.

Very nice layout indeed. I too run just ‘DC’ and it works well with me also. We’re almost neighbors because I model in Boston&maine, Rutland, Maine Central and a bit of others. So keep enjoying and be PROUD ! 👽

Very popular by number of videos for New Haven Railroad built a virtual version of Valley Western from Modelrailroader at end of winter just to run the New Haven trains ... love the Comet, Roger Williams trains in original format and with rdc and one cab later, 9000 series railcars and Besler steam train is the only steam running on the line, run the locos in orange / green livery and earlier

I had a small NH shelf layout. Mostly my hometown of West Haven & it's industries. ie. ARMSTRONG Rubber/tires. Lenders bagels, Bilco Door co. Bayer Labs. Western Electric. I always wanted to build a New Haven Trap Rock quarry in No. Branford Ct.. (They had their own trains for moving cars, called The Branford Steam RR, had a couple nice White , red & Blue striped diesels as well as a couple old NH green & orange locos.) That would be a nice addition on a layout.

This ranks very, very high on the list of the very finest model railroading videos I’ve ever seen on KZbin. My dad who got me started in model railroading at age seven, would’ve LOVED your layout and particularly your choice of background music since he was a Jazz pianist so BRAVO on your choice of music for this video. I too lost interest in the hobby at age seventeen in 1975, and didn’t return to it until 2011 at age fifty-three when I discovered NYC subway models in both HO & O scales and having grown up in NYC, THAT drew me right back in! Sadly my own son missed exposure to this wonderful hobby during my thirty-eight years out of the hobby. I still have my N-scale trains, tracks and buildings boxed up from when I was a kid. Your layout is beyond superb as there are no words for it, just stunningly gorgeous and with that, I’ve subscribed to your channel. Thanks for this video and all of the best to you.

I was rather horrified at the clear (green) signal at 0:40, which would allow a head on collision.
@eoinpkav1527 жыл бұрын
ebtmikado well it is in dc so it would be almost impossible to get a collision because dc uses blocking which only allows one locomotive on a line. That branch line might be able to go onto the mainline but I doubt that. My dc power pack can run two locomotives at once but they go at slower speeds. So you can easily stop a collision.

Great layout and great video presentation. I really enjoyed listening to the story about the layout while the train ran around, especially those bridge scenes! Great idea to feature club members' layouts in this way. Well done to all those involved. Regards, Brad

Funny, your comment (in early 2016) about how after custom painting locos only to see the manufacturers come-out with the "same loco/same paint job", is mirrored by Tony Koester's column in April 2018 MR. 'Twas ever thus...

Beautiful story of you on bikes with friends. Wonderful how one mans act of kindness in industry can affect a person for life. If working adults were allowed the same discretions today how the world might be different. Though an 0-Gauger, your blissful story and accompanying layout pulled me in... Count me a sub!

Outstanding video. I could watch that coal train wind through that beautiful scenery all day. The jazz in the background and Mr. Murphy's narration were note-perfect, too. Great work.
@joegrantkelly20804 жыл бұрын
I LOVE what you have accomplished with your layout, Mr Murphy...a train-centric operation with great scenic effects and lotsa track to keep things moving. As a narrator, you are a natural. Thank you so much for sharing what you have over on the east coast. This from a west coaster! Cheers.

Beautiful layout Bob. That Branford steam railroad was the 1st locomotive I ever got to ride in when I was about 10 years old that would be about 1956. My friend's grandfather was the crossing guard in the shanty At the pleasant point road crossing. We used to go over there and his grandfather would give him change to buy penny candy at paynes store in stoney Creek and one day the Locomotive stopped there And the engineer offered us a ride Out to the dock at vetters point.
