@@kennyhuskisson2684 This cat thought in the beginning that CCR must be based down South as opposed to San Fran. The track "Born On the Bayou" is classic swamp rock. My sister and I saw CCR in a gymnasium in Tucson just after "Bayou Country" was released. We sat on the floor in the first row, right in front of Johnny. The group was not on a stage but a low riser so we could practically reach out and touch him. The most amazing thing was that he sang and played "Bayou Country". which they opened with, just like the record but with the thrill of watching them perform and hearing it live. One of the very best concert experiences of all time and this cat saw them all including "The Fab Four" and "Brian Jones and his Rolling Stones.

toes2001 is correct! Just verified this in John's autobiography book "Fortunate Son". As they say, "the proof is in the pudding". Look at all the work in CCR and Fogerty's solo career, filled with great songs all written and arranged by J.C. Fogerty. Then, we hear their final failed album Mardi Gras, where Doug and Stu were given their chance at writing and singing and what did we get? Garbage! What great songs have Stu and Doug written since CCR? That's right, Nothing! Instead they're touring under another CCR moniker, which is the name Fogerty came up with. Talk about ungrateful plagiarizers. While Doug and Stu will be the legendary rhythm section of the original CCR, they are nothing else.

@@davecarl77 Saul Zaentz actually sued John for three separate things on the Centerfield album, since he was angry that John got a record deal with a different label. The third lawsuit was the plagiarism one, and Saul made up the story that "bass player Doug Clifford" brought a copy of the album to him and recommended he sue. That statement by Saul is false, since he got the name wrong and had already had a copy of the album to listen to since he had already sued over "Zanz Kant Danz" and "Mr. Greed" - two songs that were written about Zaentz. It was after the third lawsuit by Zaentz that he swooped in to buy the voting rights off of the three band members, taking advantage of Tom's impending death and the animosity that Zaentz fueled between them and John in order to get them to sell to him. Zaentz always exploited the band to make as much money as possible, and the voting rights allowed him to license the songs in order to make even more money.

CCR were my first favorite band, in my teens. I remain a fan of the music, preferring the B sides. The break up is nothing worth focusing on; it has nothing to do with anyone else, is their business entirely ... and picking sides in such things is infantile. They all provided me with a great deal of enjoyment over the years and this recognition is well and truly justified. John is without a doubt an exceptional musical talent, we are all very lucky to have him. And his song writing success outside of CCR comes as no surprise to me. The skill he has aside from writing, his extraordinary voice and superbly powerful guitar work will remain unforgettable. Happy for you guys, keep doing what you do.
