The “Darts” scene is easily the most well constructed brilliantly written pieces I think I’ve ever seen. He truly is a strategist. I also believe Ted had intent in the scene to make it a teachable moment for Rupert even though he knew it would be futile. Barbecue Sauce 🎯

Darts and I Forgive You scenes are perhaps the 2 best written dialogues and scenes to ever happen in TV in a long long time.

What's funny to me about the whole thing: Ted Lasso was originally a bit ran by NBC sports 10 years ago to drum up interest in the premier league. Now it's one of the best modern sitcoms ever made!

It's actually a rip-off (albeit well-intentioned) of a famous "Frasier" scene - involving a pool hall, instead of darts.

You don’t know how happy it makes me that Higgins appreciates jazz in real life. Loved the scene where he’s playing the stand up bass and has the beatnik facial hair. Also loved it when he and Hannah started scat singing to cover up their conversation.

I love that it also doubles as a reference to Apple itself. They used the same song for their iMac G3 commercials back in the day.

And then the next episode they used it as the montage track and he meets wife during the line "Have you seen her dressed in blue" and she's dressed in blue and they are so happy to see each other. Cried like a big man baby as I always associate that song with my daughter and he did it for his wife...we all have someone who's a rainbow for us.

I never thought I would find a show I liked more than Cheers, then it was Seinfeld, then it was Big Bang Theory. Then I watched Ted Lasso at the behest of several coworkers and this is my favorite show of any style ever. The little nuances of each character and the scenes like the dart game or when Ted forgives Rebecca or when you see why Jamie Tart was the way he was because of his Dad. Just brilliant show and I can’t wait for season 3 and hoping that’s not it.

Three of the cast not typically in the fore during the series but all so likeable. None of their characters fell into the typical stereotype. Trent Crimm eventually showed a compassionate side as a journalist, so much so that he could no longer pursue the profession. Higgins looked beyond inept, but his tender family dynamic at home showed so much more. Mae is just wonderful on how she rules the roost at the pub. Most of all, the diverse cast is not a FORCED diverse cast. The soccer team makeup is the typical makeup of players from all over the map. The black barfly realistically gels with his two chums. The black psychologist is never viewed as the "black" psychologist. The relationship between the team's owner and young black player is believable and actually touching on so many levels. So refreshing by today's cringe worthy forced diversity standards.

I was really getting to like Ted Lasso but the crawl arse nature of the comments about US sit coms when everyone knows British comedy shows are far funnier and more original, makes you wonder. I’m just saying that, look at Americans reactions to our old comedies, they love the and pee themselves laughing. Maybe notAs well produced but the US ones are all set up for killer one liners with little character development. Even Ted Lasso where every person has a set style which they dial up or down , a bit. The characters have a bit more depth than usual but it’s not that deep. Give me a bIt of British reality. The all driving positivity has a Walt Disney quality whereas Ricky Gervais’s Afterlife has more reality. Ted Lasso won’t be watchable in ten years time but Afterlife will, because it’s truer. Ted Lasso is a nice and a comforting safety blanket but it’s not life, unfortunately. The Walt Whitman quote is fictitious and the ghost joke doesn’t really mean anything, it’s cod Philosophy. I was really enjoying the show and now have spoilt it for myself. My loss? Maybe but like the cake anecdote, too much sugar makes your teeth ache.
