*Maybe* hot take, but I honestly think the way Mario handles in Sunshine is my favorite in the whole series. It's a shame that a lot of the bonus levels don't take advantage of that because if they were designed with the satisfying, snappy movement in mind instead of soul-crushing precision platforming then this game would be incredible all around. anyways great video melon, you should totally get all the blue coins and 100% the game, the reward is worth it trust me

After revisiting all the other games I think I agree with you, Sunshine is right there with odyssey as my favorite movement mainly because theres a lot of freedom

i remember playing this games when i was a kid with my friend on his gamecube, me being a playstation 2 owner at the time, and OMFG I loved it so much, i forgot about it for a long time and just a year or so ago i bought my own copy for $75 and i could not be happier about it. it makes me feel better learning that it was caught in a developmental hell spiral because those secret levels do not treat you with much respect.

It's so weird that the main collectable of this game are pretty much useless, and to beat the game, you're instead forced to beat the first 6 missions of every level to unlock the 7th mission to beat Shadow Mario in all of them to then unlock the final level. ...even the 8th missions are useless. And so are the secret ones. My main question here is a big fat "why".

I have similar thoughts about this game. It's pretty unpolished and frustrating at times, but there's something just so charming about it as a whole. I'm sure I would like it more if I grew up with it, but I still enjoy this game a ton. Also that spray bottle joke was gold. Great video, excited for the next ones!
