Guys. One time, my essay was said to be the best among my 25 other classmates. This is what the teacher said. "The one who wrote the best essay had a really dark turn to it." 1:17 STORY TIME! My first ever suspension happened this way. By grade 6 I started thinking that maybe being a loner was not so great even though I became one back in grade 1 or 3 when I realized my classmates weren't good friend material so I would have to be my own friend. However, new school, new chances so I started hanging around some girls and thought things were initially going well considering I was learning how to make friends. (I hadn't realized this suspension happened in November so apparently the new "friendship" didn't even last 2 months). I knew what one is supposed to do if one is getting bullied: Ignore them, tell a teacher, avoid them. I did it all but one girl in particular persisted. One day on my way from gym class to my next class, the one girl started up with some song she made up for me and I was fed up. Without thinking, I remember grabbing one of my gym sneakers I was carrying, hurling it in her direction, missing her by half a meter at least since I have bad aim, and her charging towards me in fury. BLACK OUT. Teacher separating us, my shirt in my mouth and my eye stinging. I was so scared of her charging towards me that I literally blacked out on the spot. Even immediately afterward I had no idea what came between that point and when I came back to consciousness. First sign of awareness was without sight but knowing that she had just grabbed my shirt collar. Some voice said bite her fingers, so I did but her hand had already pulled away. HOW DOES THIS RELATE TO THE TEACHER SUPPORTING ME? Apparently my teacher told my mom that although they HAD to suspend me for the fight, it was only for a day compared to her 3 days (I think) because they were glad I finally stood up for myself. They couldn't do anything. (It's my favourite memory because as an imaginative child, the blackout solidified the idea that I wasn't alone in my head and that it was the other person who took over in that instant. I hadn't been able to force a switch or anything but at least that other had sprung up a few years later on a Canada Day when I was riding down a hill and lost control of my bike. I came to consciousness as I was getting loaded into the ambulance with my mom running towards me from home. Apparently, even unconscious I could give my home phone number to whoever it was that had asked.
