Sometimes using a wrong but simpler model is one's best option just to not go insane (I've had a fair share of quantum mechanics myself. Mighty interesting, but impossible to grasp)

At 0:20, everything we know of ancient science is known, because Christian monks preserved it. Even the flowering of Muslim science only happened, because Nestorian Christian monks translated the Classical Greek texts into Arabic. Christianity believed that a rational god would create a universe governed by rational rules and understanding those rules would give insights into the mind of God. This Christian belief had the consequence that studying the Universe was a high calling, and resulted in the History of Science being dominated by dead white guys. The general consensus among medieval historians is that, without the Church, there would be a lot less science. There was no Church in China, but they fell behind Christian Europe, science and technology wise.
