A very good representation of the different emotions that we are going through after losing a loved one. They are called "the 7 phase of mourning. The different phases of mourning : 1 - shock 2 - denial 3 - anger 4 - depression 5 - resignation 6 - acceptance 7 - reconstruction. The immense sadness that encloses us inside a wall, between the rest of the world and ourselves, retained by the chains of sorrow. The depression in which we drown, and which pulls us down, deeper and deeper. We are no longer the person we were, represented by the color changes of the cotton character. However, there remains a small thing to which we hang on, an object in particular, which maintains the memory of the loved one, but which is also cause of suffering, represented, when we touch the bottom, by all the souvenirs piled up, but rotting because they are a cause of suffering. Then, the anger come against the lost one, at the bottom of the abyss. "Why did you give up on me ?" How could you stop fighting ? "Look at what I became because of you !". And self-destruction too, with the color black on the coton figure. And then little, by little, anger calms down. This is the resignation. "She is gone." "There is nothing I can do to bring her back." We have to accept that the person we love is no longer there, and that we must let her go, to be able to continue to live. It is represented by the box in which there are the two rings. The character recovers his, and lets the box sink containing the ring of his fiancée. He accept to have lost her, and find the force and courage to face it, get out of his depression, to continue to live. He then regains his original color. He is ready to let go the past and continue to live. Life continue. I may be wrong, it is how I see it.
