She played games on Windows gaming PCs during the 2000s and the 2010s, when PC gaming was at its low tide in Japan. PC gaming has enjoyed a resurgence in Japan, however, during the late 2010s onward. Curiously, Tanaka has recently switched, circa 2019-2020, to the PS4 and now the PS5 and playing with a controller (though you can still play with mouse and keyboard on PS4 and PS5 in some games like Final Fantasy XIV). She used to play Final Fantasy XIV with a mouse and a keyboard, as you can tell from her earlier videos on her KZbin channel, in which she then modeled her player character after Sadu, one of the characters she voices in the game. One wonders if someone sponsored her to make the switch. Still, Tanaka's KZbin gaming channel is collaborating with a Japanese computer company which specializes in prebuilt and custom-built gaming desktops and gaming laptops in Japan.

Only one of the 10 "Witches of Qlipha" - whose sad, "woeful desires" are destroying the world, slaughtering many, many people, and devastating entire countries, kingdoms, and empires - have been revealed so far on the Memento Mori official website: Natasha, voiced by Yui Ogura (小倉唯, Ogura Yui). Natasha is No. 10 (X). Valeriede is No. 8 (VIII). Like Tanaka does, Ogura sings her character's theme song, or Lament (song of sorrow), X. THE FLOWER. EDIT: I just checked out A.A. character description in English and Japanese on the Memento Mori official website. Her Japanese voice actress, Minori Chihara (茅原実里, Chihara Minori), sings A.A.'s character theme song, VII. THE RUST. Is A.A. - a homunculus created in a research laboratory who learns human emotions, including the cruel emotion of sadness - one of the ten "Witches of Qlipha"? Her character theme song, with its numeral 7 (VII), seems to indicate so, though nowhere is it mentioned in her description, Japanese or English. Like Rie Tanaka and Yoshino Nanjō, Minori Chihara is known for her singing skills, which have been indispensable in the Japanese voice acting industry for over at least the past three decades, especially in the last decade. Dancing skills for voice actors in Japan are also important now. According to Seiyuu Grand Prix, a major Japanese magazine devoted to voice actors, starting around 2010 - after the great success Kyoto Animation's popular 2009 TV anime series K-On! and its voice actresses enjoyed selling music CDs on Oricon's mainstream singles and album charts in Japan - most anime series in Japan no longer make most of their money on DVD and Blu-ray sales. Anime is readily available streaming on the Internet. Instead, they make most of their money on voice actors and their CD song sales, voice actors performing live events and live concerts, meeting their fans, selling their autographs in person and online, etc. Seiyuu Grand Prix Editor-In-Chief Junji Hiroshima (廣島順二, Hiroshima Junji) stated, "As a supplement to Seiyuu Grand Prix, we publish a voice actors’ directory. We began doing this in 2001 when there were around 300 professional voice actors. Our 2019 directory lists 1,430." The growth in the number of professional voice actors in Japan has been phenomenal, nearly quintupled in 18 years. Obviously, the pandemic has hurt this business model in Japan of relying on voice actors to generate revenue and earn profits, at least with them performing live events and live concerts. The growth of the voice acting industry in Japan is not solely limited to domestic Japanese animation, or anime. There has also been substantial growth in the Japanese dubbing industry in dubbing overseas entertainment media, both Western and Eastern. Many Chinese and South Korean mobile games, especially those having been strongly influenced by Japanese popular culture - what is popularly known in Greater China as Japanese ACG (Anime/Animation, Comics {Manga}, Games). This makes them more attractive to Japanese consumers. Some Chinese mobile games (Azur Lane, Arknights, etc.) even use Japanese voice actors as the original voice actors. Shanghai-based Chinese game company miHoYo - which make Genshin Impact, Honkai Impact 3rd, the upcoming JRPG-style, Galaxy Express 999-inspired Honkai Rail Star, etc. - have publicly confessed, on a number of occasions, their admiration for, and being inspired and influenced by, Japanese ACG. That they market their games globally using their Japanese names instead of their Chinese names - e.g., Genshin (原神, Chinese, Yuánshén; Japanese, Genshin) Impact; Houkai or Honkai (崩坏, Chinese, Bēnghuài; 崩壊, Japanese, Houkai) Impact 3rd speaks volumes. (Actually, "Honkai" sound more like a combination of the Chinese and Japanese names. "Genshin" is definitely the Japanese name, though.) The name miHoYo itself is how the Chinese company is known in Japanese; in Chinese it is known as Mǐhāyóu (米哈游). Maybe it has a lot to do with that Japanese terms just travel much better globally and stick much better than Chinese ones and - despite the popularity of K-pop, Squid Game, etc. - Korean ones do. How many Chinese and Korean terms can you think of known globally in comparison to Japanese ones? The people in marketing at miHoYo are no dummies, in this particular regard at least. There has also been substantial growth in Japan in dubbing various Western entertainment media. Japan's aging population makes reading Japanese subtitles impossible or too much of a chore for many older Japanese. Also, Netflix advocates and encourages dubbing foreign-language entertainment in local languages. There is not much of a dubbing problem of English-language entertainment in Netherlands, Scandinavian nations, and other non-primary English-speaking countries in which perhaps a majority of the population is fluent in at least understanding English. But this is certainly a huge problem in Japan. Rie Tanaka dubs in Japanese the mad, pyschotic, genocidal Queen Kane, played by Sylvia Hoeks, in SEE, a live-action science fiction series on Apple TV+, which stars Jason Momoa of Aquaman fame as Baba Voss. I checked the Japanese dubbing cast for SEE. Other than Tanaka, I could not recognize even one voice actor having anything to do with anime. (EDIT: I further checked and found that some do have anime credits, but not many. Female voice actors don't have the stereotypical cutesy, high-pitched anime girl voices, e.g., Maki Izawa {伊沢磨紀, Izawa Maki}, who dubs in Japanese Paris, played by Alfre Woodard, in SEE. And they are usually middle-aged and elderly individuals. Izawa will turn 60 years old in 2022.) Many voice actors in Japan today have little or nothing to do with anime. They instead specialize in dubbing live-action overseas entertainment, and/or games, more so than anime, as did all the Japanese voice actors - except for, other than Tanaka, one elderly male veteran voice actor, Yoshito Yasuhara (安原義人, Yasuhara Yoshito), who dubbed Pop Merrill, played by Tim Robbins of Shawshank Redemption fame - who dubbed in Japanese the Stephen King anthology series on Hulu, Castle Rock Season 2. As mentioned before, Rie Tanaka dubbed in that one Annie Wilkes, played by Lizzy Caplan, the protagonist and one of Stephen King's most famous villains. Kathy Bates won an 1991 Oscar for Best Actress in her role as the crazy, homicidal Annie Wilkes in the Rob Reiner-directed 1990 film Misery, based on the Stephen King novel of the same name. Yoshito Yasuhara is the Japanese "dubbing voice of Mickey Rourke, Kevin Bacon, Bill Murray, Gary Oldman, Bill Pullman, Richard Gere, Tim Robbins, Kurt Russell, Tim Roth and Bob Odenkirk. He was also the first dub-over artist of Mel Gibson and Robin Williams in their early days." Sounding like a cute, high-pitched Japanese anime schoolgirl just isn't going to cut it when dubbing live-action Western TV/web series and films. The Shawshank Redemption is one of Rie Tanaka's favorite films. There were a lot less voice actors in Japan decades ago, so many Japanese voice actors did both anime and overseas dubbing. Rie Tanaka can also still voice young girls, such as Kujou Hikari / Shiny Luminous (九条ひかり / シャイニールミナス）in the Pretty Cure (プリキュア) series and Kaniko (かにこ) in the loli train anime, Rail Romanesque (レヱル・ロマネスク) Season 2, whenever that one airs on Japanese television. Today, because there are so many of them in Japan now, and there so many voice acting opportunities in diverse fields and genres, today's voice actors in Japan can afford to specialize in anime, overseas live-action dubbing, etc., and earn a living. Because there are so many of them, many voice actors in Japan don't have a manager and have to learn to market and promote themselves. There are voice actors in Japan today who are just known or mainly known for voice acting, singing, dancing, and/or playing musical insturments in Japanese mulitimedia anime idol projects like those produced by bushiroad, such as Love Live!, BanG Dream!, Reveue Starlight, D4DJ, etc. In Memento Mori, some Japanese voice actresses sing their character's Lament, or original character theme song. Someone else other than the voice actress sings some of the other ones. You can check them out at the Japanese version of the website, in the Gallery section, and on Memento Mori's official KZbin channel here. Apparently someone else - a singer named Koresawa (コレサワ) - other than her Japanese voice actress sings the character theme song, Kuma (くま, Bear), for Soltina (ソルティーナ) in Memento Mori. This is particularly surprising as Soltina's Japanese voice actress, Yoshino Nanjō (南條愛乃, Nanjō Yoshino), is an accomplished singer who has been the lead vocalist of the Japanese pop and trance duo fripSide since 2009. Not only does she voice and sing as Eli Ayase (絢瀬絵里, Ayase Eri) in the very popular Japanese multimedia anime idol project Love Live!, Final Fantasy XIV composer and sound director Masayoshi Soken (祖堅正慶, Soken Masayoshi), obviously thinking highly of her singing skills, successfully asked Yoshino Nanjō - who voices in Japanese Krile, Suzaku and Lyna in the game and, as a pretty hardcore gamer (like Rie Tanaka is), is a huge fan of the game - to sing as her character Suzaku (朱雀), in Japanese, in the Suzaku theme song, Sunrise, in the Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood 8-man trial Hells' Kier, Normal and Extreme versions. This holds true whether one plays with the dialogue in Japanese, English, French or German - and presumably Chinese and Korean too. (My version of Final Fantasy XIV is the North American English version, which includes the North American, European, and Japanese servers - but not the Chinese and South Korean ones.) You hear Nanjō singing in Japanese as Suzaku in all language versions of Hells' Kier.

Not really in my opinion. The only PvP is the guild battles and Ranking. Other then that it is very F2P friendly.

@@seven8067 there are story stages with extreme jump in difficulty every couple stages that you can't get past without beefing up your units which takes forever or if you just pay.
