This is amazing, I used to watch The Worst Witch every day after I came home from primary school, in a way it felt like a part of my school day. I rewatched the series recently and it was very nostalgic.

@@TriskellepicturesUk I was two young to watch its original airing but I remember watching few episodes of it on repeats around 2002 to 2004, I literally looked on every channel on sky incase another company brought it & couldn’t find it. I finally found it this year on Amazon prime free video service that used to be called IMDb tv but it’s under new name now. She is an amazing actor back then & now.

I was never aware this show existed and just found it now through TUBI/Amazon Prime. I'm fascinated by it. I think it's safe to say that it "inspired" a lot of Harry Potter in tone, characters, plot, aesthetic, etc. I wish there was a bigger effort to give credit to the show.

So astounding to stumble onto this diamond little memoir out of nowhere. I was obsessed witch witches and witchcraft as a wee boy in the 90s, from Bewitched, to Charmed to Sabrina and of course The OG (for British people anyway) The Worst Witch, on CITV. I had a hand-written book of spells all Sellotaped up from different pages I'd copied down verbatim from the watching the TV and God, as a show was it so quotable. There are lines said by Enid, Ruby, Jadu, Miss Batt, Miss Hardbroom, Miss Drill and of course Mildred herself that we could recite still in our 30s because it was one of those great shows that perfectly crossed the boundary of appeal between kids and adults - it didn't just appeal to both on different levels, in my view it helped young adults appreciate the joy of mature humour, sarcasm, an irony, whilst still making the most of all the truly childish, silly things you can do with a magical school setting - it helped us bridge the gap. I mean Miss Batt's fruit salads in the cupboard... need I say more? The fact that someone thought it worthwhile to do such a humble, poignant and yet in-depth interview with Georgina so recently on such a seminal little show is just mind-blowing to me. I couldn't help crying a little tbh.

I visited Castell Coch outside Cardiff not too long ago, which of course was the fortress which doubled as the exterior of Cackles Academy, I couldn’t help but think of TWW. I always remember trying to rush home just to watch The Worst Witch, I love the show and the cast were perfect. I was disappointed and annoyed when Weird sister college got cancelled, it had a little darker theme but it was still cool. I not sure if I should blame Harry Potter for it partly being the reason for it being cancelled since they both came out around the same time.

Thanks for this AMAZING interview! Even coming from a bloke's perspective 'The Worst Witch' was such a formative part of my childhood growing up along with Digimon, Bernard's Watch, Tracey Beaker and the like. I think show like this just have that ever lasting appeal the can endure for decades with a likeable cast, fun performances to watch and of course the excellent Kate Duchene as Ms. Hardbroom! Starting watching this again on Freevee/Prime Video and just made me realise how golden these kids shows used to be as opposed to a lot of the faff they show to todays youth. Its definetely more than just nostalgia for me though. There just a bunch of heart and soul that got poured into the show and a strong reverence for its source material which I realised even more so now than before. :)

Such a time jump back , I’m from London primrose hill and I would come home and watch this after school I was very badly bullied in primary and secondary school until I fought back , because I am a trans woman . I loved this show and the 1980s film with fairuza balk and return to oz..but the worst witch series was sooo good and I felt in many ways like Mildred she was always put down and then ending up being the one who helps people! The Worst Witch was my introduction to the magical world years prior to Harry Potter. It still is so charming. Even if Georgina seems quite bitter towards Potters success, she shouldn't. You can't possibly compare the two and you should be able to enjoy them both equally for their positives and their faults.

I'm so happy there's this video, Mildred Hubble growing up and going back to Cackle's after more than 20 years! I unfortunately didn't grew up with worst witch when i was younger and instead with harry potter, till everybody found out how terrible JK Rowling is as a person...then a lot of people learned about worst witch and how Jowling practically stole off from Jill's works. I turn to love worst witch instead, falling in love with the books and movies/series', and of course they're better than harry potter, even the ex-casts would agree on that. I resonate with Mildred SO MUCH and I felt seen whenever i get into her adventures, it's more innocent and fun and I'm just glad this series is re-lived in the new 2017 show again as well. Kate is like the British Meryl Streep, literally the best miss Hardbroom apart from Raquel Cassidy's HB which I love too, as well as other miss Hardbrooms. much love! xoxo

I heard that rumour too but going from what I said before seems unlikely she would want to go back to such a similar genre/role. I think there should be a film/TV movie where we see what Mildred would be doing now or ifshe has her own little child now as she/they/them/her would be at an age of going to cackle's now. I do like the new CBBC version of the the stories but the magic is too different I preferred the itv version as the the magic even in what we now have ultra HD TV and Dolby sound we can here and see the special effects better I just wish someone would convert the show into hd like most 90s00s shows have done now. Also I wish the show could be on itv hub so new generations of the kids can see the show. Loved weird sister college too but it's hard to find the full episodes of that.
