This is such a wonderful episode! The public school I attended took all 7th, 8th, and 10th grade students to the opera each year. Our English teachers prepped us on content, history, culture, musical themes, characters and anything we'd need to know to enjoy the opera. As a result, from a young age I had teachers telling me "here, this is for you to enjoy! It's not above you or your understanding." And so as a 13 year old I was left misty eyed at the end of Madama Butterfly and wanting more! I am forever thankful to those teachers who invested in me.

The ancient Greek plays were sung. This was understood during the Italian Renaissance and was the source of their inspiration for restoring the art form.

Could you please add a link to her site, and her full name in the description? It’s hard to look up from just her first name in the description. I’d be excited to see if you collaborate with her for home education materials. I also want to learn how to love opera, or even just 1 opera.
