Memories of St David's Hospital - Project Promo

West Wales Action for Mental Health has received funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to develop a 12 month project investigating the history of St David's Hospital in Carmarthen, the old three counties asylum. The hospital, which first opened in 1865 and closed in 2000, played a pivotal role in mental health care across West Wales.
We are hoping to engage with and interview past patients, family, staff and the wider community in order to build up a comprehensive picture of what life was like there.
The stories collected will be captured in written, audio or filmed dialogue and will be available to view online and used to produce a booklet and DVD. We will run community events to promote the project and people will be able to bring along items, photos and stories to be recorded.
