I feel like I have a lot of "Midwesternisms" in my vocabulary for someone who's only ever lived in California haha. Like "tennis shoes" is definitely what I've called them in general. My mom was born in Illinois and her mom was from Iowa, so I think that's where it comes from.

that definitely makes sense you have some of the terms in your vocab from family members!! glad i’m not the only one that says tennis shoes 😂 i feel like i’m very midwestern since i grew in illinois and have lived in missouri for several years now.
