I work for the Dept of Transportation here in Tennessee and we hear this all the time" The 1975 bridge will be replaced soon", but there in the UK they have bridges 500 years old still going strong

I don’t know how you do it but you manage to find the most interesting unique places in the UK . Having lived in London for years on end I feel quite ashamed of myself for not exploring our rich and precious historical towns. Living in London is like living on a hamster wheel spinning around and going nowhere. Many thanks for this superb upload .

I grew up in Sandwich and remember when it was a really busy town especially on Thursdays , Market day, it was an absolute nightmare trying to find a parking space, with traffic congestion throughout the town. An interesting walk is around the old town wall which takes in the "Rope Walk" where ships rigging was laid out in the days when it was a busy port, The "Butts" which is where the town cricket club plays but was where archery practice was conducted in medieval times. "Hangmans Field" which was as the name suggests, where wrong doers met their maker, paying their debt to society leads to a small nature reserve at gazen salts playing field, then along the river to the Quay. Walking around the town taking in this route takes about an hour, well used to take me that long when I was fit with the dog, now with arthritis of the knee I probably would struggle to complete one section. Great video though which brought back many memories.... Just one final thing I was the "Saturday Boy " at the shop opposite the Guild Hall from 1973 until 1987ish many happy years spent working there.

Gorgeous buildings and spaces. The single glazed timber windows are the major detail which keeps the town looking beautiful, replaced with upvc double glazing the place would be instantly uglified. Installing solar panels on those delightful clay tiled roofs would likewise be a hideous blemish. I congratulate the local council and conservation team on keeping the beauty of Sandwich.

It's amazing that the timber structured buildings lasted so long! I guess that through the centuries, the owners/renovators gave them lots of of TLC. It's a beautiful little town. I can easily imagine myself as a child again, growing up there and enjoying walks through the town, looking into shop windows. I like the cheerful background music for this video, too.

Your tours are wonderful! This one was special to me because my ancestor "Thomas the Settler" (some form of Dewey) left Sandwhich and sailed to America in 1672(?). I would love to go there and see it in person--but this was a special treat because it is a beautiful town!

I have been waiting for a quiet few minutes to enjoy this! That was really interesting as well as simply delicious (groan!). The Holy Ghost Alley as well as a lot of other buildings really make me see the Saxons were there. And imagine living in that former boarding house! I bet it’s amazing. Just last night I could smell the quintessential German woodsmoke smell in a town I was in, and then you tell me it’s English, too! You have to come for a visit and compare. I loved your video, as usual. Always a treat.

Beautiful film of a special and old place. The old and also different stones that were used for the construction of the houses and the churches give a special atmosphere. It seems as if you are looking far back in time. The informative commentary is always a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another lovely treat! Leaning brick and half-timbered buildings with those small-paned windows are so wonderful to see, still standing, in use to this day. I did wonder if there was a connection with the Earl of Sandwich. Julie Montagu has another version of the sandwich story, that she explains on her channel, American Viscountess. Her father-in-law is the current Earl of Sandwich. You mentioned this video was from a short stop-over, but the beautiful film work (especially the light through the church windows at the end) equals any of your others. Cheers from California on this beautiful spring day. :)

Thank you for yet another wonderful video. I so enjoy exploring England virtually through your lovely narration and videography skills. The architecture, food, history, gardens are always beautifully presented, including today in Sandwich. One gentle request: I found the music today a distraction, and would have preferred either the natural sounds or perhaps something softer and less prominent. I hesitate to offer my opinion as the internet can open up to unkindness and negativity, and I want no part of that, as you are both so appreciated and talented! Thank you, and I can't wait to see where you go next!
