@@jonsmithh3827 no, it was started in Juke joints on Beale st in Memphis, Mississippi and through out the area. Even Elvis learned footwork in the ghettos of Memphis. It would go to spread through out the country and evolve over time. Speaking of Cali, one of M.C Hammers back up dancers was from Memphis and put Hammer up on his dance. History tells us that people throughout the south would travel to Memphis to display their talents on Beale st. The agents would travel to Memphis and take them to New York and other big stages.
