I love how this album has a lot of Christian meaning in it. It makes it even that much better! MMF doesn't just sing about their problems like all these scene bands but they acknowledge that God is the answer to problems. They don't complain, they give praise to God.

Also, I'm glad that they are not labeling themselves as a Christian band, even though they have religious music. I am a fellow believer, and I totally agree with what their views are, and I think that this way is a good way to get the point across, without stuffing religion down someone's throat. It's a good way to get the gospel out to everyone, and not just Christians.

not at all man. I've played guitar for like 8 years now, bass and drums as well, so I can say this all from a musicians point of view. Generic is a word people use to describe songs or bands they don't like because it sounds like something else they hear or dislike in a lot of songs or bands. I don't like MMF anymore because their sound hasn't changed one bit. I look for progressive bands or my taste in music is progressive I guess :p Why doesn't everyone use the word non-prog instead of generic? it would make a lot more sense haha

I was gonna say something to that effect... if he's a Christian then intrinsically it makes sense that he is sharing what he believes and has a great affect on his life. Of course he'd want to share! (I happen to share his beliefs too). However, people like me who are Christian listen to TONS of stuff that has nothing to do to Christianity and don't automatically write it off as "unrelatable." Is a Christian ONLY supposed to listen to "Christian" music? Just some food for thought. Not sure I'm explaining perfectly clear. But I appreciate the respectfulness with which you shared your opinions Death..Horse.

Just cause this album has a whole lot of Christian influences doesn't mean they sold out or are bad. Matty writes about he wants to..its his band, his music. 90% of you music "critics" have no idea what you're actually talking about when you say music is generic instrumentally or lyrically. This album blows Challenger out of the water along with the Hollow in both aspects

It's not giving credit. Just because you don't believe and others do doesn't mean it takes away from what they have physically done. You can't claim He's an "imaginary friend" because really you have no proof that God doesn't exist. So you have no right to say that they give credit to an imaginary being. It's called faith. You don't have to believe and no one should bother you. So you shouldn't bother those who do believe. It's more like they are thanking God for giving them the opportunity to do what they do not actually physically doing it haha (btw I'm not meaning any hate or trying to be rude at all or trying to cram religion down your throat, that's not fun I've been there haha)

Whether it's a religious song, we can still relate it as a person who cares for you desperately. We don't need to fight about this song just because it's a religious song. Me as a Christian know how the non believers feel. For the non believers, take this song as a remembrance if a person who cares for you and has always been helpful to you ask the time. For the Christians, it is a blessing for a metalcore band to create something to give praises to God. Memphis may fire RESPECT!!!

I really try hard not to get into debates with people on KZbin about religious beliefs, but I'm really impressed with MMF for stepping out in writing songs about their faith. I'm sure they were well aware of the flak they would get, considering this genre is becoming less and less open to Christianity, yet they chose to release it anyways. I think more people need to realize that music is a form of expression to people. This song was written to express thanks to the Lord for helping them get through doubt and tough times. It's clear here that they aren't bashing other religions, or telling anybody that they're going to Hell. They are expressing how their faith has given them hope. Also, their other songs on the album touch on subjects that anybody can relate to. Poverty, self-harm, rejection, mental/emotional illness, love for a significant other, standing up to people who never believed them, and being a positive role model. To write off an entire album because you can't relate to a single song lyrically is an incredibly closed-minded viewpoint. This band is doing what they are truly passionate about simply because of the love for it and writing about what they feel in their hearts. That is what makes somebody a quality musician.

all the people that are complaining about the religion aspect don't think about what Matty desires to write about. a good artist writes about his experiences or what he is passionate about, instead of writing to please others and writing some basic save yourself bull that he doesn't even pour his heart into. his pours everything he has into these songs and they are great, and they make him happy.

Best Memphis may fire album so far i dont care how much hate i get this is probably one of my favorite albums next to fight the silence by for today. This album is absolutely perfect in every way Yea their talking about their beliefs but ya know what its called growing up not every artist is gonna sound the same forever just look at green day and paramore they have definately sounded different now then they used to but that doesnt mean they are bad they have just grown up. Their not gonna write the same kind of songs they did when they were 16 that they will when they are an adult. Memphis May Fire is a christian band and this is obviously a christian album some people are obviously gonna either hate or be indifferent to it but dont just make the assumption MMF are sell outs now cause they change their sound they definately are not they just are writing more of whats coming from their hearts and like ive established they are trying to grow up in their music

Sure, Matty or the band members aren't perfect. But at least the words they sing will inspire. The lyrics are such positive lyrics, and its saddening to see reactions of people bashing on them. This is the new MMF, get used to it. I love it.

I'm not religious and don't necessarily believe in a god, so I make this song towards someone that has made me the positive and make me want to change, someone that means a lot to me. I'm not too much into the screaming heaviness unless it's the deep bass screaming of electronic bass (dubstep) HOWEVER I am immensely and positively overwhelmed with the message of this song. It's truly wonderful. Who says we Christians can't get hardcore? MMF, you have a new fan. Keep doing what you do and those who matter will follow.

Personally, being agnostic, I think it's awesome that they're taking a more religious approach. They're showing the narrow-minded majority that screaming isn't all about sacrificing goats and what not. Memphis May Fire is finally taking the approach they've wanted to take!

That lines mean that you can't just live your life without God. Since you won't be truly happy you will only be satisfied temporarily just like money and wealth only bring temporary happiness but God and the love from your family and friends provide infinite happiness. Remember you just can't love God only you also have to love yourself and others. Jesus said that lover your neighbor was one of the most commandments. Not trying to be preachy here :)

Yeah you are right. But i believe only in the words of jesus. People nowdays are like this: "i will do something that i want only if god wants" or "please god make this happen". You know what im trying to say. People have to believe to their self to succed. Goout and make your dreams come true. Anyways i totally respect your opinion :) And memphis may fire is my favourite band

(Not trying to be rude or start hate or anything) but if you believe in the words of Jesus then you have to believe that all things should be done through Him. The Bible which are the words of Jesus, state that all things should be done for God's glory or else there is no reason to be doing them. "All things are possible with God." Mark 10:27. Once again not trying to start anything just commenting :) if you live by the word of God you don't have any opinions within the Gospel it is all stated and that's what you do. What differs is how you interpret it. But it's awesome that you are a believer! Keep that walk with God and you will accomplish anything! God bless!

Well, I know this post was three months ago lol but here is my take on it. Logically we can not do anything without God because he made us, and the world, and the air we breath, and...everything haha so really he holds everything together in existence that keeps us alive. Also, we are sinners, we deserve death, but with Christ's death and resurrection we are born again. Our life purpose is to love God and others, we can only do that because of Gods grace. Without his grace we would all be dead. Therefore we cant to anything without God. :)

Honestly this whole album is so amazing. I love how Matty can tell what He went through and experienced! Sometimes it can be hard for people to explain their feelings and I can bluntly say this albums speaks mine. Their is gonna be so many haters on this album because it has to do with God's love but you know what I think, I think that it is awesome for them to stand up for what they believe. #freedomofreligion

Its funny cause in a year or two everyone will call this their best album and beg them to go back to this sound and not change. Just enjoy memphis while they're around, this isnt a judging panel, no american idol or x factor here just people who like the music and stay or get the fuck out if they dont. No ones asking for your opinion on their songs and its not like we or the band is going to miss you if you stop listening, get over yourselves.

Why is there a comment section if nobody is asking for our comments? Everyone has the right to express their opinion and hope that it provides a new perspective to people. If it annoys you so much, maybe stay the fuck off of social media sites?

I like this one. A little electronic, which sucks, but now has become the expected. Still a good song. Love that they have the balls to put their faith in their music!

This album is pretty much a For Today cover so far, chugging and christian lyrics. I hope the whole album isn't like that because I can't relate to it at all. It's still good, I'm just not blown away like I usually am by MMF.

I'm not religious, but I absolutely love the majority of this album (Pharisees and Possibilities weren't stellar to me) I love how he pulled this album off without losing the musical or lyrical quality that Memphis possesses.
