This video really helped me,. I'm 6ft 4 and been running the 15" non-vented on my Low Rider S with the tallboy seat. I've tried tilting forward, back and still find that at speeds of 65mph and up the top of my head is being rattled around. Not aggressively but enough to fatigue after a while. You inspired me to go for the 9".
@MotoMiracle6 ай бұрын
Yea I tried the 17", 15", 11" and all had horrible buffeting and would hit right in my eye. When I changed to the 9" the buffeting was gone with just a little wind hitting the top of my head but couldnt even notice! So how's the 9" feeling on your Low Rider S now? How's the buffeting? Sorry for the late response. I had a health issue and my wife just recently had a baby so it was a little hectic here haha.

@@MotoMiracle Ah congratulations to you and your wife and sorry to hear about the health issues. The 9” was a game changer for me! No more buffeting over 60mph. Yeah you get wind but it’s no where near as aggressive and fatiguing as it used to be.

I’m 5.11” and I still have the stock seat, The position of the fairing brackets can play an important role in any size windshield you have, I started by moving the top brackets all the way up to the tree but I needed to adjust the headlight bracket a bit in order for the fairing to fit thru the headlight and with my 17” windshield it reduced the wind buffeting up to 75mph but the top/edge of the windshield was in the middle of my eyes, I then lowered the top brackets 2.5” down & with my 17” windshield I now get wind buffeting at over 70mph & since I have two 17” windshields I’ll cut one of them down to 15”, 9” or 7” till I can eliminate or reduce the wind buffeting, I think cutting the windshield to your specific height is way cheaper than buying each side
@MotoMiracle Жыл бұрын
Sorry for responding so late!!! I agree with everything you just said. You do have to change the brackets and the headlight and everything. I ended up calling Memphis Shades and they sent me free windshields because I told them I shouldnt be paying every single time I have to replace the windshield since there is bad buffeting in my eyes. If you contact them they are very understanding and want to help you out. Like you said, the 17 was bad buffeting, the 15 was bad and the 11 was ok but still buffeting in the eyes. But memphis shades did say if you are a taller person, shorter windshields are actually better! They recommended the 9 or 7, I stuck with the 9 and it works amazing. Ill go at least 85 mph and no buffeting in my eyes! Ive hit 100 and there is a little buffeting but not in my eyes so it's definitely tolerable for long distance riding! Let me know which size works best for you 🤙🏻

Thanks for the vid bro, this is exactly what i needed to watch, was so worried being 6ft 3", I'm on a Lapera seat that drops me around 1in lower than you will be on the explorer, so all up very close in overall height to you. I don't mind wind on my head (used to it with full face) as long as the wind is clean the helmets nowadays are designed to filter that air around the head.
@MotoMiracle2 жыл бұрын
No problem!!! I'm glad you found my video and that it's what you needed!!! Yea, all of that makes sense. Wind isn't bat on my head as long as it doesn't hit me right in my eyes which happened with the 15,17, and 11 inch, but the 9inch is perfect for me. I hope everything works out for you 🤙🏻

Try the vented windshield. It helps to get rid of the air buffeting.

@@Ben-un3gk The lucky dave's seat is puts you back more and lower unlike the saddlemen seat. I'd say to try out the 9". It's crazy how each seat size and a person height changes the memphis shades drastically. If you're not 100% with the 9" I'd say to direct message Memphis Shades on facebook or Instagram, they usually have a good idea on what size to get. They told me it's all trial and error. Memphis Shades is technically meant for people that are under 6". They are actually working on how to get road warrior fairings better for taller riders. 🤙🏻

So at 5'11 the 9" would work. Thanks for the heads up 👍
@MotoMiracle2 жыл бұрын
When I talked to memphis shades they said it's all about the height of the rider, the helmet's visor size and the seat. They recommend trying the fairing and windshield with 2 different helmets to see if it's the helmets that cause the buffeting not the windshield. Then in my situation i am just over 6 feet and since I have the Saddlemen Explorer it makes me taller the than 6 feet so it's several factors. A lot of Harley dealerships deal with memphis shades windshield sizes. They can help you test out and figure out the best shield height for your bike. I love my 9" though. Rode in the rain on the highway last week and my knees to me neck was dry. Felt great! Thanks for watching and commenting 🤙🏻

@MotoMiracle6 ай бұрын
Yea, every bike sits differently so the size of the memphis shades is only a factor while buying it. The 11" with the saddlemen explorer seat and my 6'1" had just to much buffeting right in my eye. Once I dropped it to 9" it works amazing with little wind like you said on yours. And I agree with you 100%, the wind is a big part of riding!!! I haven't test rode a Freewheeler yet!! I bet it's a comfortable ride!! Thanks for watching and commenting 🤙🏻
