Neat tip to keep in yalls pocket. When you do a valve cover and you want something not painted apply a thin coat of chapstick to the the area you want unpainted and I will wipe right off after outside painting is done. Saw you disk sanding your Nissan letters. Just a tip. Looks great btw

To be honest I’ve never seen rings get that bad either to cause that much lost. Look on the bright side tho everything I mean everything will be new and wouldn’t give you any problems. Definitely don’t need a new truck in a long time after everything too.😂👍🔥👌

It happens to all of us. My daughter and I put a timing belt and new head on her Miata just to find out the bearings are out and it has no oil pressure. So now we have to rebuild the whole thing. Great video and I love the sticker. Cheers!

I know how gutting it is, when an engine don't start after putting the work in! But as you say - The engine will be that much better after new rings etc , and you'll get to do something not many people would even try to fix themselves.. It wasn't " for nothing." You'll see now that #1 you already know how to do what you did,#2 all of what you did it needed anyway, #3, you don't have to scrub with solvent and paint what you've already done, #4, now you get to rebuild the whole engine...It'll make most of the test look like new. Looks great.Before you guys tear it down,you may want to show her how to check the timing again.use the screw driver in the spark plug hole for TDC,and check to make sure the dampener rubber hasn't slipped .Then remove the valve cover and check the valve clearance on #1 cly.Then do a cylinder leak down test.harbor freight sells a cheap $25 kit thats good enough for home use.30# psi just is unusually low.The cylinder oil might have washed down,or the valve timing is off.it is true most crankshafts point up at #!TDC,but i would double check,oh check the spark timing too.ether way it good stuff to teach her.hope that helps.

Keep up the great work Ps: I trick to keep the pan gasket in place, use little cable ties and thread it thru the pan hole and thru the gasket hole. Use 1 on each corner. It will keep ur pan gasket in place. Then thread some bolts and then snip the cable ties. Works everytime

So, I've been running through all of your videos today, I might make it to this one by the end of the night. One of the little tricks I learned a long time ago was to drill through the hood hinge flat spot into the hood with a 1/8" drill bit before you pull the hood off. The you can use a nail or something similar to align the two holes. This will allow you to replace the hood in the exact same spot.

That's a bummer...but...you did all the hard stuff already. A quick rebuild will be worth it! New crank and rod bearings while you're at it, along with rings and a good hone. You probably won't every have to mess with your engine again! Good job!

Get yourself a pair of 'Mechanix' fingerless gloves. They're only about 20 to 30 dollars, and you get a better grip on your tools, plus you don't smash your knuckles to bits as they're padded in just the right places. Also, find something better than that scrunchie of yours to tie your hair back, I was getting freaked out every time you were using that 'windy-gun'', I kept thinking you were going to get your hair caught. Wouldn't be fun. Great video Kayla. You'll get that truck going. Keep it up. xx
