I just wrapped up a week in Greece where I was able to tour the red light districts in Thessaloniki and Athens to learn about trafficking. It was so eye opening and sad. Most of the women in these brothels are sex slaves; they came from other countries where they were promised a better life and work if they lived here, but when they arrived, they were told they had a $3K debt that they had to payoff by having sex 7 days a week 10-16 hours per day. Clients every 15 minutes, so anywhere from 40-60 people PER DAY, PER WOMAN. Not only are STDs rampant, but the BIGGER issue is that men are literally paying for sex with women who are held against their will and the women are not paid ANYTHING. It’s horrific.

But you're right that singleness can be a great gift if you're willing to accept it.
