Funny you mention Colin having a voice resembling Jamaican/reggae, since the Jamaican accent is influenced by english, with Scottish and Irish being more noticeable similarities and Colin being born and raised in Scotland at least until he was 14 then moved to Australia. The actor Peter Capaldi also has that Scottish raspy voice sounding same to Hay and Sting also has that type of Jamaican style accent to his singing.

You've sure got that right--Colin Hay's one of the most underrated vocalists of the 80's. Stellar song with a wailin' sax and Police-style rhythms. Not to mention that hook! Their debut album was really special and fun.

Colin Hay is an amazing songwriter and performer. Lately, he's been touring with Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band. Zach Braff and Krista Lawrence were big fans of Colin - they were co-stars on Scrubs and incorporated a lot of his music into the soundtrack for that series.

Righteous ‘80’s music. Caught these guys in ‘83 on a blistering hot summer night. I remember the keyboard player lamenting the fact that there were moths cavorting in his wine between songs. They were very cheeky and a lot of fun. Check out “Be Good Johnny” . Keep the extinguisher handy.

Yes "Overkill" is the shimmering, but brooding culmination of where their sound ultimately was headed: From the overly joyous "Down Under" to the cheeky but paranoid "Who Can It Be" to the minor chord, midnight rumination of "Overkill."

Colin Hay has an Amazing voice. He still sounds awesome. Check out Men at Work's song "OVERKILL" and Colin's solo song "You Saved Me From Myself (From The Resident). Colin Hay has such a distinctive voice. You hear it and automatically know it's him. Greg Hamm was the Sax player. He played saxophone, flute, organ, piano, and synthesizer. He was so talented. Sadly, we lost him in April 2012 (heart attack). RIP Greg. If you love the Sax sound you should check out John Cafferty and The Beaver Brown Band - their song "Tender Years" and "On the Dark Side" has awesome Sax in it.

colin hay said he got the idea of the song from a flat he use to share where the neighbours next door sold drugs from their flat and weird people at every time of the day would be knocking on their door but alot of the times they would knock on colins door by mistake and the idea of the song came from that

They are an Aussie band, but Colin Hay is Scottish (like Al Stewart!!!), and it shows occasionally when he sings. They had heaps of good songs, Overkill, It's a Mistake, I Like To, and Hard Luck Story. Worth a dive into in my opinion. Oh, and speaking of Al Stewart, he had a song called Joe The Georgian (about Joseph Stalin). It's about people who Starlin had killed waiting for him down in Hell! Or he had the hauntingly beautiful guitar piece called The Ghostly Horses of the Plain. Not exactly scary, but the horses were ghostly!!!

For Ryan--If you're all over that 80s sax there was a band called Quarterflash that had a lead singer/sax player. "Harden my Heart" and "Find another Fool" were their two biggies.
