The lyrics I think are meant to describe a person waiting for the world to bend to his comfort, instead of risking things, by opening doors and trying new things he stays stagnant waiting for the opertunity to come to him instead of chasing it down as he should. you ended up writing a song about me.

Men I trust,in my opinion is one the most iconic bands of the 2010’s. They are a part of an entire new genre that speaks to their audience and captivates the misrepresented people in society,which in fact is most people as the mainstream media music is extremely irrelevant from most of our lives. Thank you for this gem. Will hope to see you all live one day. Peace.

I love how the video is basically reaching out about being on your own bubble at the end of a hallway with thousands of doors that could lead to a new experience and its never taken, and yet in the middle of the video its also celebrating individuality; hes dancing on his own in his own little bubble completely clueless but also careless about what the other rooms could bring with heir own experiences, and yet.. happy in his own little peace. in his own little room of self love. This video just adds so much joy to the song. celebrate who you are. ;)
@akillgore42294 жыл бұрын
That's not what I see in the video at all. I see a person desperate to make reality into something it will never be. His dancing alone is how he convinces himself he is someone else. There is no real celebration going on here. That's why he makes that face when he cleans the already clean mirror. It's as if he was hoping to see something different when he wiped it off, and was disappointed to see himself look the same. Idk I would say there's definitely room for interpretation, but he seems more desperate than genuinely happy
@Halo_Legend3 жыл бұрын
It's not about any bubble though. That's a wrong metaphor. It's, literally as the lyrics said, about being "self-absorbed". It's about people who revel in their own misery because they are egocentric and love to feel like the main protagonist in the story of life. About those who would rather wait for their princes or princesses in shining armor than look for them, who never leave their comfort zone and just wait for life to change, never accepting the effort of changing themselves. I know what I'm talking about as I was one of them, also I know many people like that. But it's also just an interpretation, it might be about something slightly different.
@MatthewHyatt3 жыл бұрын
@@Halo_Legend I love all three of these in their own respects. I see him preparing for a motivational talk or something that he's concocted himself and waiting for people to show. No one does so he comes to the end of the failure and instead dances because he feels like they're the idiots for missing out. There is certainly desperation on his face but also ignorance, being self-absorbed, raving about his cryptic ways that, in his mind, no one else understands. He's at the end of his hallway waiting for them to come to him. He doesn't try to open doors because he doesn't care. He has the answers. Or so he thinks. It's such a great video!

I'm weirdly attracted to the man in this video Also I hate how I completely understand the meaning behind this song/video. He ravels in his own little world in his head, being stuck in it at the same time because he's too afraid to go on and at this point he doesnt even see the other 'doors'/options because he's so self absorbed and insecure and the way he's just dancing and rambling in this one room going 'nuts' XD basically but at the end of the he's at the exact same spot. kinda sad & kinda relatable.

Best Song I know from Men I trust...the Lyrics, the Video, I just love everything about this.
@haggard_hermit2 жыл бұрын
This reminds me of an old friend of mine. He has both bipolar and BPD, and both of them are unchecked. The song seems to be about someone simultaneously egocentric and self hating, who wants everything catered to him but feels undeserving of the attention, but wants it more than anything. It creates a very sad and confusing dichotomy of a person. My old friend is very similar to the man in the video as well, someone who’s beyond desperate for human connection while disconnected from himself. It’s confusing and chaotic, and you can see his trying to come to terms with himself, which he will never be able to do, through the ultimate mental unraveling as he goes from practicing a pitch to trying to impulsively dance his trauma away from himself. My ex wife also suffered from unchecked BPD; the crazed desperation in this is particularly disturbing because of that. Whoever the song writer and director were must have known someone with BPD. This is spot on. It’s hard to watch, equally hard to look away.
