I love how they want to introduce a strong female character into this franchise despite already doing so in Men in Black 1. Remember, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Johns were saved by the female doc at the climax and we end the film with her being Will's partner. Clean, concise, believable, and she didn't have to tell me she was badass, her actions earned her a spot in the organization. Everything after MIB 1 is guilty of several crimes and I won't defend them.

The universe and concept have always been interesting, but the cinematic aspect should have ended with Will and Tommy Lee Jones. Also, the movies haven't been great since the first. The MIB felt authentically gritty and clandestine in that one; the embodiment of the mystery G-men. The sequels lost that. This International one seems to be the complete antithesis of all of that. Looks like typical studio blockbuster schlock, checking the usual cliche boxes. That OG MIB was really poignant too with the conversation on the bench between J and K. This stuff is ripe for another animated adaptation though.

I'm so glad Martin brought up the animated series. Whereas the sequels were more concerned about being zany and blockbuster-ish, the animated series really kept a more grounded tone. Still maintained a sense of humor, but there was this kind of suave, low-key vibe to it that the sequels all lacked. A lil over 20 years later, and the only true quality continuation of the movie is STILL the MIB Animated Series.

These studios need to stop being in automatic pilot and make fresh ideas. I never wanted a new Men in black film to begin with. The first one is fine, I could watch it and I'm good. The other two are just more of the same. This one is trying to push old ideas into a new film with a fresh cast that could benefit from something that isn't tied to an old property that stopped working in the mid 2000s.

Maaan, I knew this would be bad...the Men in Black universe is the definition of wasted potential. The first movie really is a great film imo with a cool macabre atmosphere and interesting worldbuilding. I’m glad that Martin brought up the 90s MiB cartoon and praised it because it really is the only worthy successor to the first film. Hell, the animated series even had a strongly written main female character in the form of Agent L... :/ It would definitely benefit them greatly to take inspiration from the cartoon if they’re gonna keep making MiB films.

Sony probably has the worst track record nowadays when it comes to forcing studio notes onto its blockbuster franchise movies: AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, SPECTRE, GHOSTBUSTERS (2016), THE DARK TOWER, VENOM, just to name a few. It's very telling that half of those movies I just listed ended up getting rebooted or sold off to different studios after Sony screwed them up: Spider-Man moved over to Marvel, the new James Bond movie's being distributed by Universal, and DARK TOWER is getting rebooted as an Amazon series. INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE turned out pretty great, though, so fingers crossed that they won't end up dicking around with Jason Reitman's new GHOSTBUSTERS movie.

Sony STILL owns Spiderman. In fact the lease on Tom Hollands contract is up after Far From Home. He's filled his five film quota and now must renegotiate. One of the reasons Venom couldn't crossover was contract restrictions. After FFH Sony Spiderman universe doesn't need Marvel anymore.

I really liked MiB 1 and 3. Josh Brolin and Will Smith were so good together. The movies worked because they felt serious while being campy and fun. They also had enough heart to keep you invested. This new one is like MiB 2, just using the property and actors to sell the movie, but no focus on anything else. Another summer movie wasted. Despite the hate, I am sure people in the movie business are glad they can count on Disney to keep the industry going, when everyone else disappoints.😅

You know how the movie could been more interested besides a better script and direction ? If one of the two main characters Tessa or Chris was an alien who is also a MIB agent who's just wearing a human disguise, because right there, you can make one of the main heroes have any super alien powers or abilities. and you can tell their back story how she, or he, or It. they are a alien that was raise on earth, and that's why they act very human and normal like. I got the idea from the MIB animated series, as they do that kinda stuff, all MIB Agents don't have to be humans. Heck it doesn't have to take place on earth either.

Pacing was garbage, Hemsworth and Thompson lacked the chemistry they had in Thor: Ragnorak, they dropped the ball on the whole international thing. I walked out during the final fight. Thompson’s character was so boring and I didn’t get interested until about 1:45 into the movie. To be honest this would’ve been 100 times better if it was Will Smith training Chris Hemsworth as his new partner. I might give this a pitty rewatch since I have stubs A-List but no way would I pay to see this again. Catch this one at a matinee or wait until it’s up for streaming

MiB International should have just been a miniseries of vignettes set in different parts of the world. A girl from Brooklyn? Sure. A dude hunting an alien in Brazil's slums? Yep. Saving an Indian city? You bet.

Men in Black was pretty much Ghostbusters for the late 90's/early 2000's ...instead of ghosts we got aliens was also a comedy ...even had a hit song (ray parker jr for GB...WIll smith for MIB) and spawned toys, video games, animated show and sequels.

I saw this today and was very disappointed. I have seen several promotions practically giving almost free movie tickets this week so that should have been a clue how bad this was going to be that they were giving away tickets to go see this.

I love all three of the MIB movies. The first one is my favorite and like the Josh Brolin added to the the chemistry behind Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith. I like the fact in the third one they really pushed and explored time travel with that one with the fact that a villain from Kay's past comes back erace Kay from the timeline. I love the storyline, plot, and direction of the first Three. Are they perfect? no Are They without flaws? No, there not. But the first three still had the same chemistry, charm, witty fun, character development, character growth. Will the same fun silly since of humor and they in my opinion really push and got more creative with alien designs. The same weirdness that we love from these movies. But this new one is down right Garbage. I'm say it's some ole bullshit. I don't want strong female characters. I want good characters with good character development. Interesting compelling backgrounds. I love the 90s MIB series.

Oh shiiii-- I remember watching the cartoon too! I don't remember any of the story but it was definitely on the weekend rotation. I am pretty disappointed that the writers didn't take advantage of the chemistry that these two actors are obviously able to create. But then I looked at who the writers were and a) none of them were women, and b) two of them worked on Transformers and some weird straight-to-video looking sequel (maybe?) of The Punisher. so yeah🤔🤔🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

They should have shot half of this film in China and casted a Chinese actor as part of a Trio, rather than a duo. Government backed entertainment companies would have happily given generous financing terms and assisted with free marketing and Chinese distribution.

If you're looking for a new rating between rental and bullshit, why not cable movie? Like, don't actively pursue it for any whatever price, but if it happens to come on the TV, it won't necessarily incline you to turn the TV off. Pure apathy.

sadly got 25% on Rotten Tomatoes "Amiable yet forgettable, the reboot grinds its stars' substantial chemistry through the gears of a franchise running low on reasons to continue." It’s a shame cause Thompson and Hemsworth has great chemistry in Thor: Ragnarok They should’ve left the trilogy alone Was anybody asking for a reboot?
