I love how they want to introduce a strong female character into this franchise despite already doing so in Men in Black 1. Remember, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Johns were saved by the female doc at the climax and we end the film with her being Will's partner. Clean, concise, believable, and she didn't have to tell me she was badass, her actions earned her a spot in the organization. Everything after MIB 1 is guilty of several crimes and I won't defend them.

The universe and concept have always been interesting, but the cinematic aspect should have ended with Will and Tommy Lee Jones. Also, the movies haven't been great since the first. The MIB felt authentically gritty and clandestine in that one; the embodiment of the mystery G-men. The sequels lost that. This International one seems to be the complete antithesis of all of that. Looks like typical studio blockbuster schlock, checking the usual cliche boxes. That OG MIB was really poignant too with the conversation on the bench between J and K. This stuff is ripe for another animated adaptation though.

Maaan, I knew this would be bad...the Men in Black universe is the definition of wasted potential. The first movie really is a great film imo with a cool macabre atmosphere and interesting worldbuilding. I’m glad that Martin brought up the 90s MiB cartoon and praised it because it really is the only worthy successor to the first film. Hell, the animated series even had a strongly written main female character in the form of Agent L... :/ It would definitely benefit them greatly to take inspiration from the cartoon if they’re gonna keep making MiB films.

The reviews have been confirming my fears about this one. I had the same reaction to the trailer for it that I saw the trailer for Little. I like the people in the movie, but I didn't see anything here that interests me. I blame a lot of this on Sony. They've been so desperate to build some kind of franchise that they keep manufacturing projects instead of properly developing them.
@JeonardShadby5055 жыл бұрын
Sony probably has the worst track record nowadays when it comes to forcing studio notes onto its blockbuster franchise movies: AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, SPECTRE, GHOSTBUSTERS (2016), THE DARK TOWER, VENOM, just to name a few. It's very telling that half of those movies I just listed ended up getting rebooted or sold off to different studios after Sony screwed them up: Spider-Man moved over to Marvel, the new James Bond movie's being distributed by Universal, and DARK TOWER is getting rebooted as an Amazon series. INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE turned out pretty great, though, so fingers crossed that they won't end up dicking around with Jason Reitman's new GHOSTBUSTERS movie.
@ODBleach5 жыл бұрын
Venom was good. Spiderverse is animated. Comparisons are moot.

Sony STILL owns Spiderman. In fact the lease on Tom Hollands contract is up after Far From Home. He's filled his five film quota and now must renegotiate. One of the reasons Venom couldn't crossover was contract restrictions. After FFH Sony Spiderman universe doesn't need Marvel anymore.

If one of the two main characters Tessa or Chris was an alien who is also a MIB agent who's just wearing a human disguise, because right there, you can make one of the main heroes have any super alien powers or abilities. and you can tell their back story how she, or he, or It. they are a alien that was raise on earth, and that's why they act very human and normal like. I got the idea from the MIB animated series, as they do that kinda stuff, all MIB Agents don't have to be humans. Heck it doesn't have to take place on earth either.

I like the fact in the third one they really pushed and explored time travel with that one with the fact that a villain from Kay's past comes back erace Kay from the timeline. I love the storyline, plot, and direction of the first Three. Are they perfect? no Are They without flaws? No, there not. But the first three still had the same chemistry, charm, witty fun, character development, character growth. Will the same fun silly since of humor and they in my opinion really push and got more creative with alien designs. The same weirdness that we love from these movies. But this new one is down right Garbage. I'm say it's some ole bullshit. I don't want strong female characters. I want good characters with good character development. As much as I agree with this ... man, I do feel that trend will die soon, or at least I am hoping so as Jordan Peele is going to be doing Candyman. I really feel like that can be great quality.

Men in Black was pretty much Ghostbusters for the late 90's/early 2000's ...instead of ghosts we got aliens was also a comedy ...even had a hit song (ray parker jr for GB...WIll smith for MIB) and spawned toys,video games,animated show and sequels.
