Ronnie dude yeah and they had similar proceeding seasons, the 1987 Bengals were 4-11(they only played 15 games because of a week 2 NFL players strike) and then in 88 went 12-4 and won the AFC. Last year we were 4-11-1, with good players in the works just like the 87 and 88 Bengals.

Sam Wyche always seemed like a great coach. I don’t understand how he didn’t have the wins. He sure had the personality of an all time legendary coach. Rip Sam

In 1985-87, the defense was a mess. Good talent. Good production from.some players. But way too much open space, lack of gap protection, too much freelancing. Better in 1988-89. Then average in 1990 and totally fell apart in 1991. Often head coaches are good on one side of ball, but don't understand the other side.

Plus drafts cpuld have been better. Imagine a offense of Jerry Rice, Michael Irvin, Daryl Johmston and Emmit Smith. The Bengals or any other team before them were in position to draft them.

As a 40 year Bengals fan, I remember that Super Bowl 🏈 (my senior year in HS). And watching this just stirred those same emotions as I had that day. PS- I still to this day hate Joe Montana (he killed us in both Super Bowls)

The 88team had a high power offense and the defense didn't have to be in top 10they were middle of the pack so the 2022 team has the appeal to them they offense will be in the top 10 threw 2022-2028
