Female commentator was trying to convince us that Kerr was not running a smart race. All I kept saying to myself was “shut up and watch what happens!”
@simmorg290
@simmorg290 2 ай бұрын
Someone said recently that Nuguse ran a smart race for 2600m and Kerr ran a smart race for the last 400m. To be fair to the commentator I'm sure even Kerr would agree that he ran a messy race. Actually I think he did say that. He spent a lot of time towards the back either pushing or being pushed or squeezing through too tiny gaps and even tripped at least once.
@DA-bp8lf

@@simmorg290 At this level of competition, you can’t make very many mistakes, without taking yourself out of the competition. He was never in danger of that.
@simmorg290
@simmorg290 Ай бұрын
@@DA-bp8lfYes but he did get involved in pushing and shoving which he could've avoided if he'd kept closer to the front. Kerr himself admitted that he didn't run well tactically. He was the best in the race so he could make mistakes and still win and he did find a way to move up into a good position in the latter stages, despite being tripped, when Nuguse did the opposite.

Hats off to Kerr for having a big mouth AND backing it up! But my eyes were tracking Nuguse the whole time. Even losing to Kerr, he ran the most exciting & tactical race of the entire field IMO. My man has a massive kick while appearing to be casually loping.

I know, she seemed to have no concept of the pace of the race and was panicking about Kerr"s position when he was clearly happy that all was going well, a steady tempo, saving distance on the inside and plenty near enough to make a move, particularly considering how relatively early in the race it was.

I think the commentator is Hannah England who won a silver medal in the 1500m at the world championships outdoors in 2011. I posted this comment before but I'll copy it here.

Or maybe he just doesn't yet have the raw top-end power of someone like Kerr. Give him a couple of more years under Ritzenhein. He's done a very good job with Nuguse so far.

It's BBC coverage. And their home country runner was in it and won. Kinda makes sense ???? NBC usually focuses on black runners because they put a big emphasis on the sprints which are black dominated. I think it's just the coverage and the event in this case and not intentional.
