Pretty sure the judges were just counting tailwhips lol Edit: I was gonna go off more but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy first lol These 1999 BMX park X-games courses are PLAYED OUT! The ones that are like concrete bowls/pools are alright but these courses need to end lol

I actually don't have as much of an issue with the judging as I have in other comps. But I can see how people would put Logan 1st or have Jose's run or Declans runs higher. But Jean Jean's 2nd run was so clean and so crazy, and Rim put a good one down as well. Crazy riding.

@@gfmfresco a bunch of Logan's tricks were oppo too, he does oppo flair whip, oppo double downside whip air, oppo triple tailwhip, and another oppo flair in his run. If this were a crankworx comp and his name was Emil that would have been first place easily

they're easy to quantify for judges. it's easier to count whips and spins than it is to say if a lookback is "harder" than a turndown.

I think I like Kevin P’s riding when he is not being judged. After he went down in his second run his bag of tricks changed because he knew it was a throwaway run. His style and selection of tricks is so stezy

@@fallenshallrise I just watched both Kevins runs. They are the worst runsI have seen him put together. Foot down in the first one, crashing in the second. And that deserves a podium to you? FFS can someone please explain to me why BMX fans are so stupid? No offence. I mean there are competitions for BMX style and flow like the vans ones. FISE has always been about the best and craziest tricks. Complaining about style in these comps is like complaining about action sports being in the X Games. I get it you like style, well go watch some chase hawk or something. Stop watching FISE if you want to see style.

Boggard is blasting!! HUGE airs and smooth too! Thanks for posting this video! First time I ever saw video footage from a FISE Contest was back in the day on an early RoadFools (I forget exactly which one but I think it was one of the first 3 or possibly RoadFools Europe). It was FIDS riding, who at the time I didn’t know too well. Some of the Roadfools videos are among THE Best BMX videos of all time, and every single one was just amazing. I remember watching RF6 (Europe) so often that I completely wore out my vhs player and had to get a new one, and then watching RF11 so much that I wore the dvd out lol. Good Times!!

I wonder if they should incorporate a one trick per run rule? so if you do a double whip twice in a run first one counts and second one doesnt forcing the riders to be more selective with their tricks and where / when to do them.
@fallenshallrise
@fallenshallrise Жыл бұрын
I think they should just have a compulsory run. Run 1 is drop in and show the judges you can complete the whip, barspin, tuck-no, flip, flair, 360 and 720 in whatever order you want. Run 2 is artistic impression. Be creative, be original, use the course.

HAHAHAHA you want a vans style comp to replace fise. A competition built upon the hardest tricks. Fuck people are stupid. There are comps about style, there a comps about tricks. This is one for tricks. Complaining about tricks in fise is like complaining about action sports in x games.

It's called freestyle so there are no obligations, tho I agree there are too many tailwhips in some of these runs. I'd like more transparency with the judging, like the grades for each criteria if there's such a thing.

I really wish the more OG park/street courses from the early 2000s made a comeback. Like, a few vert pipe setups that sent you into the standard box jump (STANDARD as in the normal flat topped box jump, not those camel hump jumps), a street spine, a spine with a hitching post, an 05-06 style step-up/step-down setup, a few street options here and there (because street riders DO ride park sometimes, too.). Maybe utilize the old-school format of 75-90 second runs so that riders can take a short breather and pull out a big trick at the end, AND no "pump only, no pedaling" rules

Yay everyone rides the same, fun lol with every few exceptions. High time the event organizer's change the rules with heavy deductions to doing multiples of the same trick. I feel like half these guys could do some really impressive tricks but nobody ever see it. Nobody doing grinds or crazy stalls or wall rides in these park comps. I feel like x-games is kinda the same but not as bad. They just look like dirt jumpers doing tricks on ramps. I suppose that's what happens when nobody has dirt comps. Fuck'n lol.

I was bothered more on the live watch but compacted in order makes it a little more clear with some minor discrepancies. I more or less agree with the judging. I think the bigger problem is these style of courses and modern aerial only riding becomes a blur of whips and spins. I miss the Dew tour days of creative courses and diverse riding styles where a Garrett Reynolds could out tech a Dave Mirra or Scotty Cranmer could whip the biggest gap on the course only for Morgan Wade to flair something that was never intended to be touched. The magic is gone and we are left with a mathematical equation devoid of style or creativity.

Well said, some of the Dew Tour course were fantastic looking and riders had different styles, this is becoming more standardized like freestyle skiing or figure skating, these course actually look like giant version of the local pre-fab, minus the bums and beer cans, lol!

I get what your saying but id be willing to bet my money that if dew tours were live streamed today the comments would be exactly the same as now. Haha I remember id usually be pretty annoyed at the results. Its like people talking about music or anything, about how much better things were back in the day. Although I agree with the courses. The courses arnt bad now, in fact they are pretty awesome. But because they are modular they always are very similar.

I hate to be one of those guys. But yeah the judging just doesnt seem right. I know thats the price you pay in a sport like BMX park. But something needs to be fixed if this sport is to ever be taken seriously. I dont actually know but I wonder if in diving or gymnastics etc comments are full of everyone saying how poor the judging was. I doubt it, so why is this the case in BMX? Do to they need more time to judge? Like I know I would struggle to do all this on the spot. Ideally you would watch back all the runs, list all the tricks. Rate how smooth they were etc. Compare to all the riders who you cannot remember their runs perfectly, double check. Then submit the results. Just some ideas but FFS fix this.

I watched the stream and could not believe the scoring I was seeing. These events go towards qualifying for the Olympics. It appears like it was scored by washed up bmxers who don’t know modern bmx when it’s right in front of them. It makes the sport look bad when they can’t even assemble judges that give a shit. The only credible judge that actually has a understanding of modern bmx is BK. I’d rather have Scotty, BK, Mark Webb etc; judging. People who can interpret what they’re seeing.

Couldn't disagree more about the judging from the complainers, I thought it was great. Nakamura put in the line of his life, JeanJean mixed teach and gnar, and Logan Martin did his awesome tricks, they were the three best today period. I think that no matter how the judges choose some people will be unhappy for their own reasons.

I do these think the judging was bad, just that straight box ticks are over scored and creativity was punished. Bogaard and Oliveria could have easily been on that podium with different judging priorities.

Why even put sub boxes and wall rides in a park course like this any more? Maybe they need to make it mandatory to hit unique obstacles throughout your run instead of just riding the 8 or 9 box jumps they have scattered around. Even those spine-mini contests are kind of weak these days.It's just dudes riding the quarters and jumping the spine. No wallrides, no sub box use, and no deck/lip tricks being done. Not even gonna comment on the judging, everyone posting about it has been right so far.

I find it almost difficult to believe that Christopher's run was as impressive as Logan's. Very difficult. Logan was absolutely not on his A game. Rim getting second was well deserved. Maybe it's the Fise parks that are watering it down idk?? Obviously still RAD AF!! Congratulations to all. I think all of you won! Hoping Kieran breaks through soon. Man he spins like a top! Anything allyoop just looks so damn cool! Thank you for filming all of the events. I know Logan will be very disappointed with himself. Maybe jet lag who knows. Still sick as heyell!! Maybe they need a bigger course? Long comment. Sorry.

I don't think anyone is complaining about Jean Jean's placing. His 2nd run was wild. That double back flip came towards the end of his run as well which makes it crazier considering how tired you are in dead sprint while doing the most dangerous and complicated shit you can muster up. It's 2-12 which is a total nightmare in terms of placement.
