Totally understandable! I made 12 different perfumes, but after wearing each one, they last maybe 2-3 hours (some more than others). I find that I may have the dilution ratios off. Is there an online source that shows what each note should be diluted to? Thanks in advance, BK!

Thanks for the upload! Excited you are back. A video idea: one's pipette game and whether one should step it up. As someone in their first year of DIY, I use plastic, and for each material I keep it in a sealed ziplock for reuse. But how often should I replace them? Should I just transition to glass if I plan on doing this for years? If I use glass, do I use a dishwasher? Etc. I think a lot of us DIY wonder about this stuff.
@bkscents7050
@bkscents7050 2 жыл бұрын
You can reuse plastic pipettes, but only for a very short term....like maybe a week or 2. Aroma chems and natural oils actually break down plastic, so if you let a used pipette sit for too long...you'll notice the plastic start to look funny. I personally don't use plastic ....as I feel it's a waste of money to use it once and throw it away. With my glass pipetes I either let them soak in rubbing alcohol for 24 hours and then rinse off with hot water....or I use my ultrasonic cleaner machine.

Nowadays I'm using an ultrasonic cleaning machine. But in the old days I would let them soak in a mason jar full of water and rubbing alcohol for 24 hours, and then rinse them off with normal hot water. I would reuse that mason jar full of cleaner for about 4-5 times untill I notice it's starting to become slightly cloudy. At that point I change the cleaning solution

Like Ambroxan 14/1000. How to get those values. can u please explain it. Thanks by the way. And what do you mean by those values. how to use those values in respective to grams or drops.

Parts per thousand is like a ratio. So if you're making 10 grams of this perfume and he says use 4/1000 of a material in this video, that means use 40. Because if you're filling a 10g bottle, it becomes 40/10,000. To get really small amounts, for example 0.005 into the formula, you can predilute things. Fill a 10g bottle with 0.1g of raw material and 9.9g of alcohol/carrier/diluent, you now have a 1% dilution. So when you add a little of it into a formula, it's going to be less than 1% of that material

There are a few things that you can add in my experience, try different “modifiers” like benzyl salcylate, linalool, ethyl linalool, floralozone, iso e super, etc etc alot of these have certain nuances like linalool has a citrus aspect, so adding maybe trace amounts may improve you tops, benzyl salicylate has a floral aspect etc etc

In addition to what Amazon said, you have to get an objective nose too. It’s easy to become nose blind to this. We are blasting our nose with straight scents, then once it’s done constantly smelling it. Have someone else wear it for the day and smell them, or do opposite and see if they can smell it on you. When my wife wears something I’ve made I can smell it on her for hours, but on me it’s “gone” in 15 minutes.

You simply decide how much you want your total concentrate to be. For example I will make a sample of 5g grams. If I have something that is 28 parts per 1000 jn the formula, I divide 5g by 1000 and multiply by 28. So in this case I have 0.14 grams of my material.

The initial blast of this is intense, but after 20-30 minutes it changes into a completely different fragrance. people compare this with Very similar to Rive Gauche Pour Homme..........however , last note of Roehl no 925 were something else ..... its been discontinued and no where to be found at right price . anyone have any idea please advise how to get my hands on or something like it. may be.....identical to Rive Gauche by YSL except that it is a little creamier and smoother.

LOL, i keep my AmberXteme at a 1% solution (for trial batches) and a 10% solution, for larger perfume run batches. I almost never go above 5-6 parts per 1,000 of this stuff in a formula! I usually stick around 1-2 ppt

How to commercialized your own Perfume? Have you need a legalized laboratory? Which certification do you need and how do that
@amazonamazon4872
@amazonamazon4872 2 жыл бұрын
No legal laboratory, but if you want to “commercialize” a fragrance i suggest you send it out to a private lab to make sure it meets ifra specifications, certain parts of the world wont allow it to be imported or sold without it.

its possible, but you would have to rely on pre-made bases to get this done. For a simplistic formula of 10-11 materials or less, I would grab the go-to essentials and then toy around with ideas/materials in a direction you want to in: 1) Galaxolide Musk 2) Iso E Super 3) Hedione HC 4) Citrus oil of your choice (Lemon oil, Orange oil, Bergamot oil, etc) 5) Clean Floral Muget Blending material of your choice (Florosa, Lilytol, Lilial, Mayol, etc) 6) A Floral base of your choice (Rose Givco, Jasmine Base (Firmenich)/Sampaquita Base, Floral Essential O, etc 7) Something Green of your choice (cis-3-hex, triplal, liffarome, galbanum, galbex) 8) Something Woody of your choice (Bacdanol, Cedarwood oil, Amberwood material, etc 9) Something fruity of your choice (Ally Amyl Glyco, fructone, fructalate, paradisimide, prunella, casiss base, etc) 10) X-Factor material of your choice (AmberXtreme, Calone, Aldehyde, Ambroxan, floralozone, etc) 11) Something Spicy of your choice (Pink pepper oil, Cardamom oil, Elemi oil, Ginger Oil, etc) Something like this above is a very basic starting point, and probably lacks depth...but should be fun to play around with and make a few trial sand toy with different levels of materials to see what comes up!

if you use naturally derived essential oils and absolutes rather than synthetics you can get away with less ingredients because each aromatic compound consists of many naturally occurring chemicals already.

In this video I was using materials prediluted in alcohol. The final outcome of this one was about a 9% concentration. But the percentages I gave in this video are based on using raw/neat materials (undiluted)

How do you determine what should be the strength of the final fragrance? Do I go with a EDT or an EDP?
@amazonamazon4872
@amazonamazon4872 2 жыл бұрын
It actually just up to your personal preference, people tend to gravitate towards edp’s bc they last “longer” and its the new “trend”, edps may last longer bc oil concentrate is slightly higher, but they tend to sit closer to the skin, edt’s however tend to be more have more “sillage” from the higher evap process of the higher alcohol ratio. So its really all up to you

Maybe...but everyone uses their own material also at the dilution level of their preference based on how much fragrance they are making. So in the end, the PPT formula really is the only thing that matters in the end

@wib6044
@wib6044 2 жыл бұрын
It doesn’t matter what he is using. This was really confusing for me at first to. The simplest way to do it is assume it’s a 1 gram total weight blend. So 1 part per thousand would be .001grams. If you had a 10% dilution that would be .010g of that diluted material. Getting a .010g drop is a little difficult, especially with cheap plastic pipettes. The glass it’s easier. A 1% diluted material would be a little easier to get accurate with .100g being 1 part per thousand in a 1 gram total blend. Doing it this way also allows you to make the blend however large or small you want, and not the size he is making it. Just work out the 1 gram blend numbers and multiply by however large you want to make the blend. So a larger batch of 5g total formula 1/1000 ( 1 divided by 1000) would be .001g ✖️ 5 = .005g of that material. .050g total weight of a 10% dilution would give you that .005g of actual ethyl maltol or whatever in a formula where is calls for 1/1000. Go on down the line 7/1000 7 divided by 1000 = .007g ✖️5 = .035g etc. Just assume when you see a formula with 1/1000 and you are making 1,2,5 gram batches you are going to need 1% and 10% dilutions of that material before you get started. Hope that makes sense
