I'm reclaiming masculine attire from women, knee length coats and knee high boots are all I wore last winter. I intend to get more of the same for the coming one. This gives me an idea, given that some of these are essentially a Chelsea boot with a gaiter sewn on, I may take an old pair I have to the cobblers.

That's good to hear! Yep, I do so agree we as men should be able to wear this type of boots as after all looking back in history it was just men that use to wear the taller style boots this seems long forgotten very often today. Great to hear your super comments many thanks! And for more ideas on men's taller boot styles do check out my new channel as the link below Thanks K. kzbin.info/door/aLIHtICMfN6Q92O9eBzepg

Thanks, for your kind comment Yep, why should us men not wear long boots there is no logical reason why we should not do this! That is apart from what others and fashion dictate to us something I have never followed myself. Thanks, Kev.

I wouldn't think that's odd at all. I'm planning to buy ones, greetings from Finland.
@bramleygarden.86474 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your very kind comment. No, maybe I used the wrong word there in odd. What I was trying to express in this boot vlog was looking back say over the last 60 years say from around 1960 women have taken the long style leather boots in all its forms and made it very much there own fashion statement which is great. So men are maybe more hesitant at wearing a longer leather boot even in the style of these country boot say other than say functional Wellington boots say now. As gender has always played a part in fashion. Mind If you go back further into history the long leather boots were very much worn by only men right from the 1500s say right up to mid-Victorian times. I can certainly recommend them as I say in the vlog the one downside is the price of some of these boots but they do last many many years if you look after them. Thanks again and let us know what you buy and how you find them. greeting from the Uk to Finland. Kev.

I like the boots! Thank you for posting this review! I have always wanted a pair of knee-high black leather boots. I joked to my wife about the height of the heel? She was not amused! I found a very nice pair about 2 weeks ago. At first, she thought the worst! Then I put them on and wore them around the house. They do not have a heel higher than my Cole Hahn dress shoes. Her reaction after seeing me wear these boots was that they look very nice. However, after gossiping with a few of her friends, she concluded that men should not wear knee-high leather boots unless they are riding horseback, a motorcycle or in combat. She wants me to wear the just over the ankle Chelsea Dress Boots. I'm not interested. She has since asked me if I intend to wear a skirt and make-up with my knee-high boots? I told her that is ridiculous. Then she said me wearing the knee-high boots is ridiculous. I have tried to point out men wearing knee-high country boots. She said they are actors or celebrities so for them to wear the boots is justified. I'm not sure I can win this one?
@bramleygarden.86472 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your super comment. Tricky one this for sure the joke about this is up until the 1950s no woman would have worn tall boots looking back in history it was the men that wore all the tall boots OK back then in 1700 on in the 1800s and very early 1900s so many men rode horses well those that had the money to do this. But long boots were the domain of the men like it or not that is history. Then women saw them as a great fashion item and how durable they could be, and they just took off, and as we moved in the 1960s when so much changed, fashion became freer of constraints for men and maybe even more so for women And fashion tall boots for women took off in even greater numbers and they became the norm. Sadly it sounds like you are never going to win on this one! I do find this whole fashion thing very odd. I mean, a woman can dress in the style of a man. No one bats an eyelid, do they yet if a guy airs on something, shall we say just a bit or a tad say more feminine he is often labelled a crossdresser or such like how sad! I think men have had a bit of a bum deal on fashion and have been told this last few years what we can and can't wear! Rather than what we would like to wear. I mean, look at the UK press and one Tabloid newspaper in particular that a few years ago would lay into any celebrity or politician man seen in a pair of Speedo style swim trunks on a beach! And make fun of that. Well to me that's just mad as a child of the 1960s? I grew up wearing that kind of swim trunks, and just about every man wore them on the beach! I suppose I'm single so I wear what I like and the age I am. I don't worry if I want to garden in my tall Dubarry boots and some of my running tights, then I just do it! I have been out in long boots funny enough a few years ago I went down to London on a train in some tall brown Spanish boots and tight brown cord trousers several women came up to me and said they loved the boots and the look! But I do get why maybe not all women like to see men dress like this in taller boots, As the tall boot fashion market has been so dominated by the female market this last 40 years but then it seems they do forget all too quickly they can basically wear what they want and like and feel happy in, and no one questions this. Naturally, it would be wrong for me to comment on your own situation. Still, I do feel it so strange why people who love us can't accept us as we are and, after all, be it swim trunks, tighter pants Lycra or tall boots whatever; they can't just accept that this is only clothes or boots! Now surely it's the person inside those boots or clothes and the care and love they show that is far more important to me. I hope in time maybe you get to wear your boots. In the new year, I'm going to have a look at some men's taller fashion boots and do a little review on youtube, so watch this space and good luck and thanks for your very thought-provoking and engaging comment! So come on, guys anyone else have any thought on this? I better add this is just some of my own views on this very complex issue. Kev.

Thanks for the video. How do you think the Rubicons would fare in the summer? Are they a winter boot, or do they breathe?
@bramleygarden.86472 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your kind comment. Those Rubicons boots in my view are a boot for the more colder winter climes as they are lovely wool lined inside! I think they were really designed for rough moorland shooting in winter time so are warm and waterproof but feel they would be heavy and very hot in summer weather for sure. So maybe not ideal. But in cold winter months standing on wet grown or snow, they would indeed keep your feet dry and lovely and warm for sure. Hope that helps. K.

I don't understand why you think such boots are feminine? Fine leatherboots with heels are part of women's wear (worn with skirts), but long boots with flat soles aren't feminine at all.
@georgehopkins Жыл бұрын
What’s the sizing like on the shearling Rubicon? I’m usually somewhere between an 11 or 12 UK, but I’m struggling to find much sizing info online regarding whether they come up big or small. Also, would you generally recommend them?
@bramleygarden.8647 Жыл бұрын
Always a tricky one to answer mine are quite old now I take anything from size 9 to size 11 in boots! My Rubicon is men's size 44 a UK 10 and fits me very well I do like to always allow for thicker socks with my boots. I think they are pretty true to size but with the thick wool lining I would say they are a snug fit so may be best to oversize a little bit. I feel if you can't get to try some on before hand. Thanks for your comment. K.

I picked up a pair[galway] from a local lady whose son wore them a few times and never again.I paid £40 via gumtree for them and there is barely any visible wear to treads and even heel! They're incredibly comfortable and would recommend them, was down deep in water to test and they passed with lying colours. downside is newer injection moulded boots are harder to resole, but found a guy who can repair them though it costs around double what people said the old ones cost to resole. £98. I think given I got them so cheap this sits alright with me, details of man who can repair the newer injection moulded ones.
