@@brittonevans2581 Cause he's at the absolute top of his age. He doesn't want to risk a hard X-C when he can so easily win a u-20 title. By doing so he's immortalizing his name as one of the greatest youth middle distance athletes of all time if not the best. Also I think he's a bit confident and wants a bit of showboating at the end which would be practically incompetent to even think of in higher age groups.

@@alansamuel2454 no, he would also destroy the field in the senior, he wanted to race both senior and u20 in 2018 in Tillburg but the European athletic president said no. He also wanted to race the relay with Filip in 2019 but they said he can't run anything but the u20 race until he turns 20

I've always thought this was a weird stereotype in the first place but sorry jack is right, you could've picked a much better example if you felt that strongly about trashing the US because this really does look like a golf course. I dunno if balboa would've been my first choice to represent tough courses in the US though but believe me, while the big meets you're probably used to seeing are usually held on flatter more accessible courses, there are some other US courses that make this one look like a track. And don't ever say that the US won't run in bad/muddy conditions because that's nearly the definition of cross country races in the midwestern US. But crazy thought alert: Maybe Europe and the US both have some easy and some hard courses. It's also pretty hard to convey true "difficulty" through pictures and videos so for example while you might be annoyed with me and say this course is harder than it looks (cause it probably is) just keep that in mind while looking at pics and vids of US courses because it can go both ways.

kstock This course looked very tame compared to many I have ran. One that sticks out as being notoriously tough is Holmdel County Park. There are only three flat spots in the entire race, with two being the start and finish

I notice the same mechanism for me when i get into v extensive workloads. The synapses run out of 'juice' to make magic happen. some genetic disorders among sheep give motoric paralysis when frighten, he could have some genetic thing. So you pick what happens to this poor boys body in sprint mode.

Crazy Elliot’s sub 2 hour marathon pace is faster than the average pace of the guy who won this. Albeit the unrealistic conditions of Elliot’s run and the twist, turns and the terrain of this race. It’s still gobsmacking

jakob was one of the pacers for the sub 2 hour marathon.... even kipchoge would be pressured to keep up with jakob on this course.. (to be honest jakob is probably faster on a 6k course the kipchoge is now)

Even if it was a 5K race, a 14 year old with perfect physical shape can get around 15 minutes. Most kids in grade 8 will run it in just after 20 min or more. 17:49 doesn't seem very believable but I can be done. Although, if you were in this actual race, the grass and hills would shed off a minute or two of your time, while the extra 1225m would add 3 to 4 min. If you were placed inside this KZbin video, you'd probably finish in 21-22 min
