Kolecki clearly doesn't have the leg strength of many of the other 94kg lifters but manages to match them by relying on perfect positions, timing and technique. He can pull with the best of them, but where Ilin will stand with anything he can rack, Kolecki could rack just about anything but not stand up. I think his height within his weightclass is a large contributing factor. When he has an extra 4kg or so you can see how much easier his cleans are.

More speculation; watching the Poles training, them seem to do alot of snatches where they simply get into the full squat and drop it. Looking at Dolega with his insane snatch, but he doesnt seem to have the raw strength for big cleans, same as Kolecki.

+Andrew Aquino Hmm. He lifted 217 in C&J and the clean wasn't so smooth. His jerk on the other hand was fast and easy like always. But anyway I think he couldn't lift more than 220.

TypowyFitnesiak Yes, I don't know if i'm happy or not. Ilyin was the legend but now?... Every profesional weightlifter dopes so in fact this situation is a shame. I think kazakh weightlifting federation has bad relations with IWF and this is the reason. At least Kołecki has the gold medal, he deserved it. Anyway RIP 250kg in clean and jerk in Rio, not gonna happen without Ilya ;(

***** His best clean and jerk was 235 in 94kg category. It's impossible his best front squat was 242. And the 228 was not a front squat but clean...

Actually he won that. Ilya was disqualified after the event for using drugs and gold medal went to Kolecki.

I have noticed that almost all Polish weightlifters have relatively weak legs, especially when getting out of the whole. If they fixed that problem, we could expect some records from Poland!

Kołecki 's doping scandal in 2002 has been exposed, he also was caught for doping in 1997

kolecki lost it to ilin on purpose they are good friends Kolecki wanted Ilin to win the gold so he made the 228 kg clean and jerk look extremely difficult when really I think he could of pulled it off Akkaev was strong in the snatch but weak in the clean and jerk
