😂😂 Jedi mind trick in full effect: Beleaf: "you had chicken nuggets before we left. You just ate a hamburger. You're not hungry." Uriah (with look of complete confusion): "Im not?🤔" That whole scene had me dying!!😂 All jokes aside, thoroughly enjoyed this!👏🏾👏🏾 First time I can honestly say Ive seen a father do this with his son. Usually its a father & daughter doing this. I see why you're a member of The Dad Gang Beleaf! Stay awesome!💕

My dad would take my sister and I out to a high end restaurants where we had to dress for the occasion. He would say “ I don’t want my girls to be an impressed by a burger” … it’s a fond memory for us. It taught us about valets, matrie de, tipping,and many other lessons. It also gave us the palet for good food , both at home and in restaurants. These were valuable lessons. Great job nephew!

👏🏽🫶🏽🔥 Glenn! I've seen ZERO fathers do this! You are truly a strong, thoughtful father, man of God & wonderful role model! Praise Jesus for your forward-thinking! I've seen many dads take their daughters out to know how to be treated BUT never sons! This just blew my mind in that it is so simple & obvious, but NEVER done for young men!🥺🥹🙌🏽 Props Bro! Thank you! I pray more fathers follow suit!🩵

My sisters and I are autistic. They're a lot younger than me, the youngest one is 18 years younger than me. I live far away from them and don't get to see them often but when I do see them I go out of my way to teach them that they are allowed to feel their emotions. Being autistic means we show our emotions differently than other people. I remind them that even tho people complain when they show their emotions, they're still allowed to feel them. They're allowed to be overwhelmed in a crowded room, they're allowed to not understand jokes, they're allowed to be interested in things. I also teach them how to better communicate in a way that is comfortable for them. We text a lot since I live far away but not call, they get anxious talking over the phone but could text my novels worth of things. I love them and just want them to have a good role model for how to live life with this disability.

The things you are teaching your children ARE the things I wish my father would have been able to teach me. How to have a “snowball conversation,” how to appear interested… all of it.
@LindaC616 Жыл бұрын
I think it's more that you *communicate* that you're interested. The "appear interested" is good for networking....but if you're not interested in someone, then where is the advantage in appearing to be?
@BeleafInFatherhood Жыл бұрын
Sometimes you can be interested. But have bad body language and give off the impression that you’re not interested. Some people have quirks that give off disinterest.

This was so sweet and refreshing to see. You're doing great things, and Im excited to watch this journey unfold ❤ One thing I wish my dad had done when I was growing up was to make me feel heard. He's always been there for me, but tends to recite all the cliché phrases in response to my words. Although they're not wrong or unappreciated, I just never really felt like he was actively listening to me, engaging with me and asking me questions; I think I just wished he had shown more engagement with me growing up.

I’m 32 and I’m being taken to school right along with Uriah. Why is Beleaf over here fathering me too! In the last video I watched about the Grand Canyon, and Beleaf shared that his son asked him to hold him accountable and not let him quit despite his fears, anxieties and resistance deeply resonated with me. It allowed me to address and deal with a 20+ year old longing, disappointment and sadness that got buried under bad habits of quitting that led to shame, low self esteem, not reaching my full potential and many missed opportunities because of a lack of discipline and integrity. I needed that accountability and parental guidance to show me the way to develop those characteristics in me at Uriahs age. So that I wouldn’t struggle now at 32. So yeah I wish my Dad would’ve been a bit more harder on me when it came to following through with many things I saw as hard or things I simply didn’t want to do just because I preferred pleasure/leisure over minuscule and hard tasks.

Also teaching about discernment on people and their character. Just because someone is physically attractive it’s okay to get to know someone and realize you don’t click or that interests don’t match. It’s important to not feel the need to change yourself and who you are to appease and match someone else just for the sake of being “chosen” by them.

I have a great father. And when the time for my heartbreak by a boy came, he shared his heartbreak stories in return. It helped my dad and I connect more deeply. But that was well into my mid 20s. I think it is valuable, when the kid reaches the appropriate time for them (maybe as a late teen interested in dating), so that they know the costs and benefits of intimate relationships. Maybe reference your honest struggles as foundational lessons for them- and yes share your stories with your daughter as well. Bc both parents have stories that can be learned from! Now I know we can’t teach everything- they may have to learn for themselves. But I think it is possible for us to teach foundations for our kids like: -“Pride in one’s self despite rejection/ - and not just dating for reciprocated affection/ -how to see truly good qualities in someone else - what it means to treasure your heart mind body and soul in singleness and dating Because our culture tend to sugarcoat, dating and marriage. And I’ve seen many lives get shaken up because they let the wrong person too close to them. I believe we as a community can better prepare our young ones in this area.

@BeleafInFatherhood the question at the end is such a gr8 and loaded question. I am going to give u my answer. I am the oldest of three girls. My sisters and I were raised by a single mom from the time I was eight until she remarreid when I was 16. Our father was in the military and didn't come around but a few times during those yrs. I grew up not knowing much about boys and what they were really about. My mom told us some things but for me, I think it would have been better to hear it from my father. I never knew what it was like to go on Daddy/Daughter dates nor learned how a man is supposed to treat a lady. These are very important lessons little girls need to learn from the fathers as well. So be sure, Beleaf, to take your daughter on dates and have the talks with her about boys. Had my father cared about me and my sisters like that, I don't think we would have made half the mistakes we made in choosing the men we messed with or had children with.

I was a young lady who had her dad in the early years. But it wasn't consistent. Then lost contact with him for 27 years, found him online back in 2017. And have him back now. But growing up I never had him to teach me how to navigate through the world of dating or anything else for that matter. I never knew what it felt like to have a man love you unconditionally, so I in turn look for love and all the wrong places. And coincidentally sent my own daughter down the same path by not choosing a better partner to have her with. My dad is now trying to do better but it feels kind of late

I’m in my late 20s and lately I’ve realized that I really wish my dad took the time to teach me how to do simple house projects and use tools. It could be as simple as painting a room, using a drill, or changing a tire. But even deeper than that, I really wish my dad taught me how to preserve and problem solve - particularly without complaining. The lack of training I received has contributed to a perfectionist mentality + analysis paralysis. I also struggle to finish projects, especially when there are challenges to overcome.
