Nice to see Hugh again after all these years. he sold me my first GS.. long before adventure bikes were a 'thing'. just a year after this video was made. sadly... I understand that he died rather suddenly in 2008. Nice bloke.

One thing I wish BMW would have done is to push the turn button a second time to cancel. I use handle bar gauntlets in the winter and finding the off button can be difficult due to the tight fit. Another thing I do once in a blue moon is blow the horn by accident, as it's located on the opposite left bar in the same location.

interesting that in all of these reviews, they talk about the tank in metric but in regards to distance, they use "miles".

Yes, that's how it's done in the UK.

We've been struggling with metrification since the 70s,the only reason he talks about fuel in litres is it against the law to sell fuel in gallons in the uk,so now people have no idea how much petrol their buying

I like to always listen to the bike. I don't think I would use a radio even if I had one. Well.....maybe in traffic on a long freeway trip

Depending on how its been ridden and taken care of, ~150K is often starting to approach the need for a new clutch or top end. So check for remaining clutch play and compression or oil consumption. If still ok, and otherwise in good shape, then grab it. There are many of these still around with >200-300K on the clock!

Always fancied one of these but I've a friend who lives and breathes Beemer....his epic reliability issues on 1100, 1150 and 1200 have been a source of amusement over the years, engines (camchains, tappets, cams etc) gearboxes, clutches, ABS and other electrics, smoke on start up if left on sidestrand, yet he still thinks Suzuki have crap build, you can't educate pork as they say😅

Clunky transmission and incessantly blinking ABS lights drove me nuts. It was slow too. And a 5 speed just is not acceptable. And the side stand nanny was maddening. Too many weird quirks to be enjoyable.
