The Mendelssohn Violin Concerto performed by Toronto born (1928) Canadian Violinist Joseph Pach. Pach gave his first public performance at the age of six at the MacKenzie King Century Club in Toronto performing Toselli's "Serenade". As a child Joseph studied with Christoff Daffef during which time he won 9 First Place Gold Medals and Scholarships in Ontario Music Festivals and Competitions. While studying with Kathleen Parlow at the University of Toronto he made his Symphonic Debut with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra playing the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto at 19 years of age.
While maintaining an active solo career Pach founded and led The Brunswick String Quartet as Resident Musicians at the University of New Brunswick. For 18 years, they performed, recorded and toured Canada, Britain and the U.S.
Joseph and his late wife Arlene Nimmons (1928-2000) performed as Canada's internationally renowned Violin and Piano Duo for 48 years. Awarded Honorary Doctorates by both the University of New Brunswick and Saint Thomas University in Fredericton for their contributions to music in Canada, they were a recognized Canadian treasure.
