A really well put together video. The first three layouts are iconic models and rank as my all time favourites. Great presentation and most enjoyable. Thank you for sharing

The diodes are required to reverse the trains. If they are not installed the train will just carry on in the same direction.

Hi Callum, visited this show today (Sunday) and it was excellent. Such a friendly and relaxed environment. Highlight for me was the N Gauge Midford layout and the home made coffee cake!

Really was. Alway love little shows like this. Sadly u didn't get around to sampling the cake, but hear it was very good indeed

Looks like a nice show Callum with plenty to look at. I hope one day the operator on Dylan Creek will work out that you can actually slow down trains lol.

Hi Callum, a very nicely filmed video and the best model railway exhibition I have seen for a long time and the locations and eras modeled here are right up my street. I have noticed that diesel and electric seem to be taking over more which does not interest me. There needs to be more of a balance of steam and diesel at exhibitions I think. Something for everyone.
@SDJR7F882 жыл бұрын
Think nearly all, but one layout was steam at this event. Thought I always do like a good mix

Hi Callum I am from South Africa and started my career as a fireman and later became a driver We also used semaphore signals but the difference is when our signals were in a horizontal position they were at danger and halfway raised at all right position This was to prevent sabotage Should the wires be cut the signal would remain in the danger position How does your system work to overcome this problem Very nice setup you have there
@SteveSmith-bq9rk2 жыл бұрын
Lower Quadrant arms are heavily weighted at the lamp end, usually via a very heavy casting that includes a pivot mount and holds the lenses for the lamp. This weight will return the arm to danger if the wire or mechanism is damaged. There must have been some concerns remaining that this might not happen, as of the Big Four, all but the GWR already used or changed over to Upper Quadrants in the UK.

Some really nice work on show. I just find it a little disappointing that so much care is taken to produce such lovely models, then the operators can't manage to use the signals correctly (assuming they have any at all) :-)
@SDJR7F882 жыл бұрын
Many thanks indeed! Some of the layouts are still very much a work in progress (wiring for signals etc). Funny thing is the operators of Over the Stour asked me to re-film one run as they saw their engine had spadded. They said, someone would spot the error if I didn't ;)

@@SDJR7F88 I was struck by the opening sequence at Burnham, when the push-pull set departed the excursion platform. The Down Starting signal went back before the train had got half-way across the cross-over! Not only that, but it over-looked the fact that the porter-signalman, having waited for the train to leave before sending 'Train Entering Section' to Highbridge 'C' box, then had to walk down the main platform and through the goods-yard in order to reach the ground-frame which controlled that signal in order to put it back. Even allowing for condensed 'model time', a bit sharpish :-)
