Legend of the Well of the Souls:
The Pozo de las ánimas is made up of two depressions, divided by a narrow separation, which is supposed to end up uniting the two wells into one over the years, due to the erosion process. The size of the wells is estimated to be around 200 meters in diameter, 80 meters deep to the lake and about 20 meters deep underwater. The measurements were made in 1981 by a team of scientists led by Rodolfo Rogelio Rocha.
The name derives from an ancient aboriginal legend that relates that a group of indigenous people who were being chased by another rival group realized that their pursuers had disappeared during the night, and alerted to certain moans and cries, they cautiously retraced their steps. There they found the pursuing party trapped in two wells that sank under their feet, and their drowned bodies. They venerated the place that saved them from their enemies as the "place where souls cry
Laguna Legend of the Enchanted Girl:
This legend tells that there was a beautiful Indian princess named Elcha (in aboriginal language it means mirror), recognized in her tribe for her beauty.
That tribe was at odds with another for which the witch had sympathy. Elcha had grown up with a companion who was not from the nobility but as time passed, a solid love grew between them. Aware of this, the witch of the tribe convinced her father to stop the attitude of confrontation between the tribes by marrying the princes.
Princess Elcha was informed the night before. Desperate, she told her beloved and they quickly escaped to the north. Minutes later, aware of the escape, both tribes set off in pursuit under the command of the witch. In a moment, the young people understood that they had lost their way and continued until they were stopped by an abrupt cut in the surface that ended in the lagoon. They looked back and the light of the lightning illuminated their pursuers, who were very close. Elcha and the young man did not think about it and decided to jump into the water.
The first to arrive and peek into the lagoon was the witch, the moment she did, a powerful ray was discharged on her, leaving her petrified. The rest of the pursuers also fearfully approached and saw Elcha's image reflected on the surface, like a mirror.
From then until today, both the petrified witch and the image of Elcha can be distinguished and that is why the locals named this lagoon like that.
Pincheira Castles Legend:
Tradition has it that this place was a refuge for the bandit at the service of the "realist" Pincheira brothers and their hosts, with whom he carried out his raids between 1811 and 1833. In the surroundings, arrowheads and ceramic remains are often found indigenous of the Huarpe culture and later of the Mapuche culture.
From the Pincheiras (because José Antonio formed a gang, with relatives) until now. From 1817 to the present day, the magnetism of the place is felt. Before by the defenders of the monarchy, by his Franciscan education. But thieves from everywhere joined, until a group was formed, they say, of 500 men, who attacked and looted from the castles.
