i’ve still never related to a song quite like this. it finds something truly primal within me, all the way to my soul. i always try to bring nothing but good to any of my relationships and tear myself to pieces when i can’t be perfect for them. i can make people feel so seen and heard, but i hurt them bc i’m a whirlwind, a tornado hazing structures to the ground. i don’t think its a inherently bad thing, i don’t think i’m a problem (at least outside of the moment) but i know it can be hard to handle someone like me. and it always feels like this song just understands that part of me.

This song is one of my favorites from her and makes me feel both heartbreak and warmth and is SO relatable. I love the long periods of music in between the lyrics cause that is part of the beauty of this song and relates to the message. I think this also gives you the reminder of not to be so hard on yourself; if your willing to accept someone else’s downfalls, give yourself a little more grace.

Peace is from folklore, but you posted on the anniversary of lover, so the outfit/necklace still works 😉 If I remember right, Taylor wrote this song because of her fame, but Aaron Dessner related to it in a different way because of his struggles with depression. They both saw their own story in it, which is really cool.

I love how she “Told” him that he’d have to go trough some hard times due to her fame / personality and she also impersonated herself as one of his solider, almost as if she’d do anything for him. It’s like she tries to balance the bad side with a good one to let everything work out. He might have had those depression episodes due to her fame (or anything, her personality, etc…) and she says that she was there to take him out of them. Love you Mere thank you sm ❤

I saw someone else talk about “I would die for you in secret” referring to I would die for you even if it wouldn’t lead to publicity or fame. Not to be a hero who is praised. I think that interpretation feels so right

Right, definitely this. People say the romance is for show, it’s fake, but even if there were no show whatsoever and nothing to gain, in extremis she would die for him, because when she wrote this she believed his potential was worth it. (If you’re a doctor who fan you’ll get why River writes that about him; true good is good “in extremis, without hope, without witness, without reward.” Wiki says; In extremis is a Latin phrase meaning "in the farthest reaches" or "at the point of death.")

I’ll always love this song, even though it’s so hard with Taylor because she has a million amazing songs lol. But Peace sticks out to me because when she released it I felt that same feeling of being 27 and my “coming of age” felt done and I felt grown up finally. Obviously she wrote this because she’s famous and dealing with that in relationships but I feel like I can never give my partner peace because of my mental issues. Just my thoughts, love love this song.

I think it's also about her level of fame and him probably not being able to handle that. She can never do anything in peace, whereever she goes, the media follows her, whether it's taking a walk, enjoying a date or like recently going to a wedding. Also there's always a bad headline or a hater right around the corner. And while she is offering him all her best parts and is willing to give him everthing, she is not able to give him a peacefull life, it's never silent around her and she's afraid, that all of her is not enough. If it's true what some rumors say, maybe this was actually one of the reasons why they parted, that makes this song so sad for me🥺

Definitely one of my favs. There are so many amazing songs on that album like Hoax, The 1, Cardigan, probably the best track 5, mad woman, exile.... This is probably one of her best albums for me. It's one of those go to albums for so many reasons; and I have been a fan of hers since her first album. I love that I was able to see her grow and evolve. I was right around the same age age as her. I think I am a year older. Now getting to go to her eras tour was incredible. She is so talented.

If I would have to guess, with give you my wild, she means that she would never let his life be boring, she would always push him out of is comfort zone. Like she said in master mind "I'm the wind in your free flowing sails, and the licor in our cocktails" basically saying she's the fun part to he's blue side.
