I found someone's theory on the "he was doing lines" part (well his thought more like) he had re-watched the KW phone call fiasco and for whatever reason, he connected it to this part in the song: "he was doing lines --- rehearsing lines or acting out HIS lines as if reading from a script "while crossing all of mine" --- essentially erasing/editing everything she said in that phone call. I found it refreshing and again with HER songs it fits the narrative as well, so who knows.

Scooter Braun created a fund that was based on Swift's original recorded albums - he was going to pay out profits based on the income generated by them. Only Swift re-recorded her albums and radio stations were told that if they used the Braun-owned recordings they wouldn't have access to Swift's new music (created post Braun) - so there were no profits from the old master recordings. Braun had to return the money that was invested in his funds, only - gosh - about $100 million dollars was missing! And *THAT* is why the FBI is investigating him (and also probably the last straw for his wife). So what is the moral of this story? Taylor was correct when she said "There is nothing I do better than revenge".

I love this song. Taylor is a great example of how to navigate this man's world. I love that she just comes out and says exactly what she did. I don't think anyone else will dare mess with her again. "I don't start shit but I can tell you how it ends". We can all learn so much from how TS handles the situations where narcissistic men take advantage of her. Being a "nice girl" is not an option when you're dealing with snakes, you need to go all vigilante shit.

Genius Lyrics says the word is innocents, not innocence, and I agree because to me this is a direct reference to Kanye for whom she composed Innocent after he 'apologized' for storming the stage in 2009. Also, "thick as thieves with your ex-wife" refers to, imo, Kim K, who I believe released the entire audiotape of that infamous phone call with Kanye, clearing Taylor in the process. To me, Taylor and Kim K have reconciled, but are keeping it hush hush.

I always try to see the lyrics through Taylor's eyes first, but I live that you can identify with the songs as well. That's what I missed in this video to be honest. (Still loved it and your content in general❤️) I think "ex wife" can also be translated to "people who distanced themselves from the villain". Like friends and family, because they now understand or even experienced the things you went through with them. Because of this message (in MY head) this is one of the many personal favorites for me. Knowing that I am not crazy, people will see it and karma has my back.
