I feel it's ironic that as young woman we are told about our period and reproduction. It's even taught in school. However, when it comes to another stage of life, the menopausal stage, nothing. My mother never even mentioned it. You see your doctor and he or she tells you it's normal and it's just part of getting older as a woman and maybe offer hormone therapy or tough it out. If you wait too long your OBYGN (or mine) doesn't recommend hormone therapy. And to your point, no bone density until it may be too late. That's just nuts. Medicine is all about $$$$ not about us. You have to be proactive to the point of being a nuisance. I never knew the health benefits of estrogen. So informative. Thank you so much. I'm definitely going to be watching Dr. Barbie Taylor!

I just found this video and I know my comments are late, but here I go. I am 66 years old, and started going through menopause at 50. Not ONE of my doctors spoke about this. So, I have been diagnosed as depressive, and an insomniac. I take a medication for depression, and one for ADHD. I also take THREE medications for insomnia. It’s too late for me to access these other options, but don’t be me. Do your own research, go well equipped with information when you see your doctor, DEMAND a conversation about this. Tell your friends, tell your daughters, it will make your life so much better.

It all actually makes me really upset this morning as I listen to Dominique Sachse’s podcast, because exactly like you said, I’m 60 almost 61 and now it’s too late and no one ever had this conversation with me and I thought I was doing phenomenally not needing hormone replacement therapy because I didn’t really have any symptoms, but what does that mean for me now and my overall health as I’m aging? So many questions and I’m so upset.

This was my favorite video you have ever done, and I have watched every video you have done for years...probably since you first began here on you tube. I guess I am one of the lucky people because I went to work for a GYN when I was 22 years old and worked there for 18 years. He taught me so much and he was a huge advocate of HRT for many of the reasons that Dr Barbie talked about. So I knew the very minute I was experiencing menopause symptoms. I was 42 when my lab test proved it was time for HRT. I am 59 and I still take them. I went off for a year or so and just could not take all the symptoms I was going through. My GYN I go to is fine with me taking them and we did have a discussion on how long I could take them and I remember when she told me as long as I wanted to. But, there were several things talked about here I didn’t know, so I really enjoyed this topic and I am glad that I have been on HRT. Thanks so much for putting this out there because I think Dr Barbie will be getting a lot of new subscribers. Have a great week, xoxo

It's funny the difference between GYN and medical family doctors. My GYN is an absolute advocate of HRTs and then there's my family doctor that raises her eyebrows at me because I do hormones. She's like, are you telling your GYN that you have breast cancer in your family? Which I have, of course, but it's one person in my family and isn't a lineage of breast cancer. That's a risk for me and I am certainly aware of that. But I'm 60 and I have done bioidentical hormones for 8 years and my medical doctor can't dispute what I'm doing when blood work comes back with no problems with blood sugar, no problems with cholesterol, blood pressure fine. She tells me, whatever you're doing, keep it up.

Thank you for using this platform that you have created to continue to share a wealth of information from which foundations suck for us hot sweaty women to ...hey...estrogen just might save your sanity (and your life). I have been to THREE very experienced hormone specialists, not just my "ob" but specialist that have written books on menopause and I learned more in the last 42 minutes than I ever did in any of those visits, which is incredibly sad. Dr. Taylor touched on the reason for this, while I did see highly knowledgeable specialist, here in Canada under our " free National health-care program" first, I waited about 18mos to see each dr, and each dr I was in their office no more than 15 minutes, there is a lot to cover in that time allowed, so, we end up with a quasi "good" free ( not really of course, our taxes are much higher than the US) where the wait times are crazy long, and when you do get in, they so busy, moving people through at a very fast pace that they are looking at the bullet points and prescribing what they hope will work, and goodbye. I plan on contacting Dr. Taylor, hopefully she will accept those outside of the US, I would gladly pay to try and get my life back. Thank you again for bringing Dr Taylor to us.

Oh my goodness!!! Thank you!!!! I am 43 and have had a partial hysterectomy with only one ovary remaining. I am so VERY well informed at what awaits me and no longer in fear of the dreaded HRT. This has been the biggest blessing! Thank you to Dr. Taylor for not vilianizing and one choice (ie HRT, bioidentical, natural) I feel so much more ready for that season that is coming in my life!! WOW!

I want to thank both of you profusely. Angie, I have followed you for quite a while and saw a few of your videos discussing menopause and Dr. Taylor. Dr. Taylor, your videos, and specifically the one discussing symptoms/side effects of menopause have started my “road back to me”. In July 2012 I had an accident that has left me in severe pain ever since. In November of 2013 I had a bilateral oophorectomy (thanks Dr. T) at the age of 43. I have an amazing OB/GYN who started me on estrogen right away. Over the past 6 years I’ve suffered from severe depression, insomnia, night sweats, weight gain and pretty bad hair loss - especially after each surgery. Until I saw Dr. T’s video, I and my doctors attributed these side effects to all the pain medications and 8 surgeries (with 3 more to go). However, at my last appointment with my OB/GYN, I asked her to check my hormone levels just to make sure. Even though I was on the highest Estradiol patch, my estrogen levels were less than half of where they should have been. I’ve switched over to the Estradiol gel and can already feel a huge difference! We will retest my hormones after 4 months to ensure that they are where they should be. Again I wanted to thank you. I don’t think I would have asked her to check my hormones without your videos because I was already on the highest dose and I wasn’t having hot flashes, so I must be okay. I would suggest that you may want to let your viewers know that even though they are taking HRT, they still need to check their own levels to ensure that the hormones are working correctly. I wish I had thought to discuss the symptoms with my OB/GYN years earlier or known that they were possibly caused by menopause and not just a side effect of surgeries and constant pain. Thank you both from the bottom of my heart!

This was an incredible blessing TO FIND OUT THIS EARLY .... I wasn’t even scheduled to get a bone density test until I was 65 ....!!! I can NOT even imagine finding out 13 years from now . I have scheduled an appointment with an endocrinologist to consider best course for my bone quality and bone quantity.

I had early pre-menopause at about 34. I was taken by surprise when I was told I could not conceive with my own eggs anymore. Thank God I now have a wonderful baby made with the help of egg donation (born last year when I was 42) but so much pain could have been avoided if only I would have had more information and support. So many menopausal symptons that I wrongly attributed to something else and I just kept on soldiering on, completely unaware of what was going on with me... I wanted to thank you for posting this very helpful and informative video. We need people more people like you (and this wonderful Dr. ), who stop treating menopause as a taboo or something of little importance and bring awareness to this subject. Thank you ever SO much!

Of all you do, this content may be the most important. As a non-HRT, recently menopausal person, this dialogue has made me re-evaluate the risk/benefit of HRT and to put it on my list of things to talk about with my doctor in my upcoming annual physical. It's extraordinary that you slog through the deluge of foundations, concealers, etc., for us, attempt to help us age with grace -- more so that you've added resources to help us consider for ourselves how to be healthy from the inside out. Scientists are pumping out articles on JAMA, NIH to study HRT for depression, sleep, osteoporosis, heart disease, sex drive -- what was settled science 50 years ago was dealt a blow 20 years ago and now, thankfully, subject to more careful research. It's worthy of individual, informed, thoughtful analysis that I thought I'd settled. Thank you.

I use an Estradiol patch and I was hoping she might comment on that but she never did. This patch has been so helpful for me. Anyone else use this? Mine is .0375 and I change it once per week. Life changing!
@DS-rt5rl4 жыл бұрын
Hi! According to Menopause Taylor chart on her channel your dosage needs to be at least .05 for Estradiol patch to protect against heart disease, osteoporosis and Alzheimer’s. So watch her channel and you will probably need to go up one dose. I’m on same patch as you. I too started on .0375, then went to .05. Ultimately went up to .075 because.05 wasn’t quite relieving my symptoms.
