I heard you mention the carnivore diet last fall. I had never heard of it before. We had been living in Europe and I had some weird condition on my hands that no doctor could explain. They prescribed all kinds of creams and pills and half my hair had fallen out. I'm talking about long curly hair to the middle of my back. I had to cut it up to my shoulders to make it look like anything and I was devastated. My hands were peeling and cracking and bleeding and I had gone to specialists in Rome and Athens and other places. You mentioned the things the carnivore diet did, and I started to talk to my husband about maybe I needed an elimination diet because we had tried everything else. We officially started in the middle of March. It took a while to watch some videos and learn about it and really wrap my mind around doing it. I was happy that my husband finally agreed to come on board in support. We have both lost weight, I know that I have lost about 30 pounds since starting. But more importantly my hands are healed! My elbow doesn't ache anymore and my knees, which killed me all over Europe on the cobblestones and tile floors. Well, I feel absolutely no pain anymore. My husband before he retired was a contractor and master carpenter and his hands had reached the point that they were so arthritic they curled up overnight and he had to put them against the wall to even open them up and stretch his fingers. Now he wakes up and not only are they not curled, but there is also no pain, and they are fully functional. He feels it is a mini miracle. The weight loss is great, and we both have about 20 pounds more to lose to be back to our weight in middle school. I am officially out of the overweight and into the normal weight category. Well, we both are. I have to thank you for talking about your carnivore journey because it has changed our lives.

I started getting male pattern baldness when I did the patch. The first time around, it seemed to be working well, but then, the second time, they didn't do my hormone levels and my hair started to fall out in chunks! I looked it up, on the side effects, and hair loss can be one of them. Then, because they last for 3-4 months, I couldn't get it out. It has taken me over a year to get my hair growing back in. Hundreds of dollars in hair serums, hair vitamins, etc. Yes, I had Covid, but 2 years earlier, so it wasn't that. I went to a naturopath, and she got me straightened out. Just be very aware.

Sorry for the lengthy post, but I’m passionate about the subject. Hi Lisa, I’ve done my research and in my personal opinion, Dr. Barbara Taylor is by far the best educator on the subject. She has a chart explaining the minimum dosage needed depending on the method used. If I saw correctly, you are below the required daily dosage for Estradiol pills. I’ve seen the video with Attia and Huberman, and Attia admits in not being fully educated on the subject. I also follow Dr. Louise Newson, she’s located in Britain. Dr. Heather Herschel, also teaches the subject and is licensed in several states and does telemedicine, you may want to schedule an appointment with her. These three doctors do not exploit women and believe helping by accepting medical insurance and prescribing HRT, also covered by insurance. There is also Dr. Kathy Maupin. She has a world of knowledge on both estrogen and testosterone for women but she pushes pellets. I’m not a fan of pellets. Then lastly, Dr. Rachel Rubin, a urologist, that explains the importance of vaginal estradiol for uti’s and incontinence.

I can so relate to you. I feel I've had to be my own doctor in many instances in my life. After trying for 5 years to lose weight to no avail. I finally lost 35lbs. and have maintained it for over a year now. Before I lost the weight I had a back issue, which affected my knee, had a hysterectomy (kept my ovaries) because of severe cramping with my regular periods at 56 years old. I play tennis 2 to 4 times a week and workout regularly. But, I just wasn't in a good place physically. I found a fabulous Chiropractor, a perfect healthy eating plan for me, a wonderful Physical Therapist who finally told me after seeing a doctor for my knee and an MRI for my knee that my problem was not my knee but in fact my back. I am now feeling better and more fit than I have been in 10 years. I truly believe you have to be proactive in your own health care. Good for you standing up for yourself and finding someone who listened to your findings. I have had doctor's actually tell me how surprised they were of my knowledge and research.

Hi Lisa, the estradiol patch is safer because estrogen doesn't naturally go through our digestion system. So happy you switched! You are supposed to take daily, not off for a week, he's not educated in menopause. Menopause Barbie (good friends with Dominique) is very educated in menopause. .05 is the minimum dose to prevent the 3 deadly diseases (dementia, heart disease and ostperosis). Please increase to .05.

Dr. Barbie on you tube is a great resource for information about menopause and hrt. I began hrt using a cyclical pattern as my periods were becoming sporadic. I used progesterone pills and an estradiol patch. The progesterone pills made me dizzy and the adhesive of the patch left me with an allergic reaction. I now have a mirena iud and the femring which lasts for 90 days. It is systemic estradiol so it does more than provide estrogen to the uterus. It protects the heart, bones and brain. It works for me so i'll stick with it. Many women opt to not pursue HRT and many more are never offered the option. Education is key so read current studies and decide for yourselves. Good luck everybody.

As a medical professional, it is important to educate yourself and advocate for your own care. On the flip side, we also need to be careful about WHERE we are getting the information from and from WHO. There are "doctors" on KZbin that do not have the proper education and credentials to be giving medical advice. Every individual responds differently to medications and the various forms, so it's important to keep in mind that it is not a one-size fits all.

When I started HRT i put on like 8 pounds in a month. Im 5ft tall, and never had a weight issue until I started it. HRT is a hormone. Of course you can gain weight. Anyone that says that you don't is ignorant. Not everyone may, but I am living proof until we tweaked my dosing that you can.

Thank you Lisa🙏🏻 I am an avid follower of Peter Attia as well. Compounded bio-identical hormones have been a game changer for me. I worked with my gynaecologist who also practices naturopathic medicine in deciding what was best. I am on compounded estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. For some reason so many women forget about testosterone which is so important for us women as well. As we age our testosterone levels tank and it’s this hormone which plays a huge role in muscle building, energy and taut skin. For whatever reason most doctors (generally male) disregard it. It’s unfortunate but when it comes to our health, we have to be proactive, do our own research, be firm and find open minded health care providers. I wish more women would do their research on HRT. Hormones control so many metabolic processes in our bodies. We are not meant to suffer through menopause. Bio-identical hormones have helped me with my sleep, my metabolism, and any potential belly fat shifting around my middle. It’s also worth mentioning my energy levels are high and my skin beautiful. To date I have never had a hot flash or night sweats. I commend Suzanne Somers who the wrote a book called “Ageless” to raise the awareness on the importance of bioidentical HRT and the various health options women have. I also appreciate you sharing your story and shining the light on the subject, and from there allowing women to make a well informed decision💕

They just did a new study on testosterone. I am upset as i was on it 6 years ago and new dr told me to stop taking it . The new study showed it helped with bone density. I've been told I have some form of osteo whatever now. My back never hurts and I refuse big pharma pills . Go figure. Had I stayed on the testosterone I wouldn't be in this mess.

You are right about giving Suzanne Somers props for writing a number of well researched books on the benefits of Bio identical Hormones. It was perfect timing for me. Because I was taking a pill my GP prescribed for me that was not good. The estrogen is made from Horses urine. As many of the pills for menopause are. So after reading Suzanne's book I went to a doctor that prescribed Bio identical hormone replacement. I would get Suzanne's book. Everything you need to know is in there. Including the best Doctors input.

I don't use anything either. I don't understand what the problem is that women have that they do need some thing? But maybe I'll learn about that watching this video. Now having watched the video I can say I did not have any of those horrible symptoms. I craved sex extremely, and I do remember feeling uncomfortable and wanting it to be over but I was never as hot as Lisa described. That all passed very quickly, about six months and then it was over and everything was back to normal.

I am 58 and also didn't take anything - just found that exercise and good healthy eating habits did it for me. Now, I understand if some women have had to get organs removed (ovaries, uterus, etc) - this would probably be a whole different story and may call for synthetic hormones, but I feel very blessed to not have to put anything artificial in my body!🙏🏼

I really need to look into the HRT patch. My gyn offers the pellets, which isn't fun. It requires a little numbing and an incision😬. I'd much rather try the patches. I've also leaned into carnivore. 90% carnivore 9%keto 1%carb. The mental clarity is something you can't buy! It's amazing. Stopped taking anti depressant, using CBD gummies instead. I've lost 30lbs since February. 30 min morning walks with hubs and some gardening. I recently retired and decided my job now is to live my best life. Thank you for sharing your journey, and the screen pics. I was especially happily surprised to see the note about the beneficial effects for dementia. I have been on the carnivore for 14 months, and lost around 60 pounds. I was feeling great! I recently decided to start HRT because I was still having menopausal symptoms on the carnivore after months of being on it. HRT requires that you up your fibers to help avoid overload of estrogen levels in the body going up too high. So I stopped the carnivore because I was having more symptoms that only developed during the time I was on the carnivore diet. Histamine, excess hair loss and insomnia issues. HRT is slowing undoing those new pesty developments. I've stopped the carnivore diet for now to see how I go.

I agree that every woman needs to research on her own. HRT needs to be taken within the first 10 years of post menopausal. @Menopausetaylor changed my life. Dr. Barbie Taylor. Hu oncologist and Menopause specialist. She has a book and her KZbin videos are 100% authentic and educational. I spent months researching and reading before taking HRT. Best thing I’ve ever done. I’m 57 and am so happy that I decided yes. Heart disease, osteoporosis and dementia run in my family and this was the main reason I am taking it. An estrogen patch (systemic) and progesterone pill. ❤❤❤reach out to a menopause specialist. Not necessarily your gynecologist.

I went on it in Feb 2016, was feeling terrible for about 6 months. A year later 2017 Was diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma In Situ breast cancer. All my oncologists are for sure and certain it was the HRT that caused my cancer. Thank god it had not spread to my lymph’s and was only in my milk duct. Lisa, You are on the right track but want to caution you on the sandoz estradial patch ….please read the adverse reactions ASAP …..I experienced almost all of these bad reactions and only recently figured out that it was due to this particular brand of patches. I switched to the Dotti patch and feel I am back to feeling great again. Even if you have to pay out of pocket to get the Dotti you should persist and insist on Dotti. My doctor (specializes in BHRT) said many of his patients have trouble with the sandoz patch and strongly recommend I switch to the Dotti. I cannot stress enough the different brands of the patches definitely does make a difference. I encourage you to be your own advocate !

He should have given you a blood test to see what your levels are during your current HRT and then another blood test 3 most into using the patch. I just went through 2 years of hell-with my own Dr that NEVER drew blood even though I kept telling her everything she was giving me was not working. At one point I actually got my periods back. Because her Progesterone dose was too low. It was 10 mg , now I am on 200 Mcg. And the patch at .05. I am finally great. (But I did switch Drs who tested my hormone levels and he gave me the increase in Progesterone and the correct dose patch,) You have to fight for yourself -2 yrs of misery, periods and weight gain and no sleep is too much for any human!!!!! And I am 59!!!

@@Rositasparks I actually agree with that. But I was constantly getting switched on different HRT's and doses. When I finally got a Dr to listen to me- because I brought my husband into the exam room- (fully clothed LOL) the Dr said, Lets draw blood. My levels were so low, they were unrecognizable!!!! On HRT-!!!!! I needed a stronger and better dosing. I went from all pills, to a stronger pill and a stronger dose patch. I am so much better now. But it took 2 years!!!

@@kimberlyh3646 I'm doing great on it. I also use a testosterone cream. My primary reason for taking them is to fight the 3 big diseases that increase after menopause: CVD, OP and Alzheimers and I never skip a day. I'm just surprised that Lisa's doctor (and other docs) didn't explain the different options and then explain their recommendation of "X" and why they prefer it over other options.

I’m glad you stood up for yourself, Lisa! And you have done your homework. I like Peter Attia. There are some great menopause docs on KZbin like Menopause Taylor and Mary Claire Haver. I have taken progesterone for years and only started taken estrogen the past 5 years as well as vaginal estrogen. I’ve always read that transdermal estrogen is best. I never really had bad hot flashes and night sweats. Probably the biggest things for me is not sleeping well and vaginal dryness. I honestly don’t care if women take HRT or they don’t. I never judge a woman who has chosen not to take it but it seems that some women who aren’t taking it act like it’s a “red badge of courage” or something. I am very fit and follow a low carb diet. But I also take HRT and I’m so glad I do. I’ve done my research like you have Lisa and HRT is not just for hot flashes and night sweats … it’s for our brains, heart, bones, vaginas, urethras, skin, etc. I am currently reading the book, Estrogen Matters by Avrum Bluming who is an oncologist. Estrogen is important! And if you choose NOT to take it … good for you. And if you choose to take it … good for you.

I have had heat surges I will not cause them flashes because I only get them when I have alot of stress and anxiety; I did not start experience them until after my mother's death which literally but my body into shock; I did have a breast cancer in my early fifties; I was still having a period monthly; evidently hereditary wise my people do not stop their periods until they are in their late 50. I had ever test imaginable to determine why I was having all these heat surges ; its now been call a autoimmune disorder; which is way of saying who knows; I do not take any HRT primarily not because of my breast cancer because it was not estrogen driven; however my oncologist said why would I even think of introducing into my body something that could cause problems; everyone needs make this decision for themselves; but you need to really do your research and know your family history. I started the carnivore diet three month ago based on Lisa's recommendation; thus far its been great I feel terrific; I have lost 23 lbs thus far; I have had recent bloodwork and my bloodwork was perfect; all of my stats got in the normal range except for a little elevation of LDH but nothing to be concern around; I will continue on this way of eating. I have started to include a few veggies; this is the first time I have lost weight so easily though it is slow and easy; 6 lbs a month which is great.

I got a little indigestion from HRT at first and it seemed to aggravate my gallbladder some. But it settled down after a little time. I went through the same thing as you. I was on creams for years then told they were not effective. It scared me so switched to patches. Long story but they put me on a very high dose patch .1 and it was too much caused bleeding with led to a biopsy. No cancer but I went back to creams. It all depends on what works for each person. My blood work showed the creams were working fine for me. Some of the problem is the pharmaceutical companies want everyone buying patches because they can’t sell creams so they are pushing the patch story. It’s a racket all at the cost of women suffering. You are to trust what works for you.

I have been Carnivore for 3 months and loving the way I feel. I was having horrible skin issues that I just couldn’t kick so I started carnivore as an elimination diet. My skin has cleared.. I sleep through the night again and I have lost 22 lbs.. which is a bonus but never the reason I started. My mood is so chill now and nothing ruffles my feathers.. hubby likes that side effect! I am post menopausal but with carnivore I have noticed that I now get a hot flash every now and again but I don’t mind that. I am not on hormones because I figure that’s the natural progression of a woman my age BUT I think it’s important that we all decide what is best for us. I do plenty of things to try and take care of my body and age gracefully as well. Thanks Lisa for always sharing your journey with us.. you’re a down to earth gal and I respect that!

Hi Lisa, have you ever done a coronary calcium score test? That is the only test that will show if you have cholesterol deposits inside your arteries, because of eating meat fats. It is different than the blood test and even if in your blood test the cholesterol levels show perfect, the calcium score might say something else. Just for you to make sure everything is ok. :)

Lisa I love and appreciate these videos SO much!!! I have been educating myself as you have been, and down many rabbit holes. I started HRT a month ago because I truly believe (at this time) that it is the best thing for me for my long term health. I did go to Dr. Berry's video and watched it a few times. I don't catch him saying specifically that the patch is better but I am interested in switching for a few reasons. That said, are you sure it's every pill form for estrogen that cannot be bio identical. The ones I received state that they are, and now I am confused if I am understanding. I will talk to my doctor as well....just getting my ducks in a row because I shut down as well under the slightest bit of confrontation haha. Thank you again!

I was fortunate to get through menopause naturally. The worst phase for me was perimenopause. That is when I had hot flashes, but really no other symptoms. Once I reached menopause though, the hot flashes ended. I think eating healthy, exercise, no alcohol and no caffeine also helped me get through it naturally.

Lisa..first you are NOT a scatterbrain, you are one of the most intelligent women in social media today, when you dive into soemthing you go head first and you gain an encyclopedic level of knowledge about that topic, you are absolutely not scatterbrained, in the least. You get excited about what you are talking about which means sure you can move from one thing to the next but you always come back to close the loop on whatever you were discussing. I started menopause when I was 46 after I had a hysterectomy and my son was just 2...I can tell you the combination of a toddler (who has some special needs) and raging menopause is a recipe for a Momma to pretty much have a full mental & physical breakdown. I have no family or friends close by, so its just my son and I for days, my husband works shift work and isnt home much. I went to a hormone specialist and he did my blood labs he started me on a cream but that was so stressful because I had to make sure I didnt let my son come in contact with it, and I was supposed to put it on my arms, anyway, I then tried the patch and everything in any dose just makes me so nauseaus I feel like i'm constantly in a 1st trimester of pregnancy and when I feel like that all I want to do is craze on carbs. So, I gave up, just suffering thru the ridiculously horrible symptoms. Its regualr for me to change my nightgown/ pj's up to 8 x in a night, I sleep maybe 45 mins at a time, wake up drenched, change jammies, towel on the bed, try to go back to sleep, usually I just give up and get up. I've learned to function on about 4-5 hours of broken sleep. The sweats are so horrible I had to stop working, i'm 55 now and just keep praying I dont have another ten years of this, my Mom was able to wear a patch, her menopause started in her 30's !!! She also had a hysterectomy but hers was when she was just 33. My sister also has had a hysterectomy (at age 45). We had periods that were so bad we would bleed for around 12-15 days, we would have to get blood transfusions every 2-3 months. Just blessed with some pretty horrific genes I guess. My Mom's hot flashes and sleep started to normalize in her 60's...over 30 years of that nonsense. While men might have to "live with" women going through it, they truly have no clue what its really like to actually feel like you are coming out of your own skin due to all the bizzare feelings. I get these phantoms twinges that feel like there is a bug biting you, but there is nothing. Sit on the lou to do your business, instantly my legs are asleep /numb and tingling. Oh the joys of being a woman , lol. Prayer and ice cream...thats what gets me thru the worst days, ha ha ... i'm so glad you are feeling well and you've found what works for you. Thats the magic of all of this is the trial and error and trying to find the combination of diet and remedies that work for your body ❤

Love these discussions, can be so confusing and it is such an individualized thing. No one size fits all for sure. I'm 59 and have been on the Estrodial patch, plus the Mirena IUD for progesterone for years. Has definitely been positive for me. (Originally I was getting my progesterone through a pill, but after a year on that I had some spotting - I consulted with a menopause specialist and she took me off the progesterone pill and switched me to the Mirena IUD for progesterone, along with my Estrodial patch. That was a game changer, I have not had any spotting since getting on the IUD).

I went on the gel you rub on your arms and legs and it was such a relief. I just feel normal. But the weight still creeps up. I think it helps to maintain your feminine curves but not to lose the weight. It has so many other benefits though. My skin is still great, hair is full, sex life is good.

There's no reason to suffer through and be miserable. I'm 52 and just started my menopause, I went to my doctor 2 weeks ago and asked him to put me on HRT. I got the patches right from the start and i feel great. I'm not letting the night sweats and hot flashes change my sleep routine and my life (or melting my make up in the middle of the day LOL). I also got the same Gucci sunglasses 2 days ago from Winners (in Canada) and i love them so much! I was diagnosed with cervical cancer at age 40, therefore, was put on Premarin immediately and continued that for years. My gyn wanted to change me to the cream but my insurance company would not cover it so I just do not take anything anymore. My contribution to this topic is doctors. I had the best oncologist ever - he saved my life by picking up a recurrence of the cancer within a year of my surgery - something the MRI did not. He taught me throughout many many problems, to trust myself because I was the one that knew my body best. He taught me to not automatically think a doctor is always right and if they will not listen to you, then change right away. It never occurred to me to argue with a doctor. LOL Well I do now and it has served me well. I am so glad you switched your doctor. I love these videos because it does give people a boost to question diagnosis and/or medications with a doctor and do NOT feel funny about that. Have a great rest of the week!
