Menorca

Menorca...
... ist meiner Meinung nach die schönste Insel der Balearen. Obwohl Menorca größer als Ibiza ist, kennen viele diese Insel nicht einmal vom Namen her. Das liegt sicher auch daran, dass sie vom Massentourismus weitgehend verschont wurde.
Die Hälfte der Insel steht unter Naturschutz und Menorca ist ein von der UNESCO anerkanntes Biosphärenreservat.
Die Insel ist für alle zu empfehlen, die gerne wandern, Natur lieben und die Ruhe suchen.
Wer gerne auch mal "einen drauf machen" will, in die Disco geht oder das Swimmingpool das Zentrum seines Urlaubs nennt, der ist sicher auf der nur 40 km entfernten Nachbarinsel Mallorca besser aufgehoben.

Die Filmaufnahmen wurden nicht mit einer handelsüblichen Videokamera, sondern mit einer Spiegelreflexkamera Canon EOS 550D in FullHD gemacht, was Vor- und Nachteile mit sich bringt. Da meine Objektive keinen Bildstabilisator haben, musste die Kamera extrem ruhig gehalten werden (bzw. Stativ). Dafür sind die Farben unglaublich gut und man hat die Möglichkeit, Objekte mit der Reduzierung der Tiefenschärfe besser herauszustellen.

Menorca is a beautiful island, a paradise corner in the mediterranean sea, one of few refuge left , where you can get lost in it's beauty, and wish the time stood still, so that would never leave again. I just hope, that people will continue to respect the environment there, without compromising it's fragile natural balance. Thank you God for this wonderful holiday, you have allowed me to experience your beauty and majestic creations.

Was on the island 50 years ago stopping on a US Navy destroyer. We whitewashed the cemetery where sailors had been buried over the last 150 years as they were not taken home. Beautiful island and people.

@geophotography Vielen Dank, es freut mich, dass dir dieses Video gefällt! :-) Die Aufnahmen entstanden Ende Sep./Anfang Okt. Wir haben Menorca auch schon im April besucht. Da kann man mit dem Wetter Glück oder Pech haben. Bei uns hat es vorher wochenlang geregnet und kurz bevor wir ankamen, hörte der Regen auf und die Sonne war sehr kräftig. Dadurch blühten sämtliche Blumen gleichzeitig. Lila Felder von Disteln und bunte Wiesen. Ein Traum! Fürs Baden ist aber das Meer und die Luft zu kalt.

Hello Lorraine, in my opinion Cala Galdane is the nicest place to stay on Menorca. But all small villas are on hills and the roads are steep. Not good for wheelchair users. I would recommend the Hotel Melià. This is by far the most ugly house in the village, but it is right at the beach promenade and you have the best sea view at all. And when you are inside you don't need to see it from outside. ;-)

Also the fact that it’s on top of the beach is fantastic. We have to pray that this very bad virus is stopped asap, & that we keep safe, then if all is ok , I’ll be booking up, it’s the best place I’ve seen since The Seychelles or St Lucia, it’s too gorgeous for words - is Love to be able to live there in Menorca, but I’d have to win the lottery. But for the time being, a winter holiday each year would be brilliant for about 3 weeks at a time. Oh yes, I keep meaning to ask how do I find out the different monthly temperatures please? Is there an app? Cheers 🥂 for now.

@@lorrainefleming2738 I found these statistics about Menorcas weather: www.climatestotravel.com/climate/spain/minorca There are nearly no hotels opened in winter. I think the best chance for a winter holiday is Meliá. I tried this, too. But there are no direct flights and the available flights with stop in Barcelona are very expensive. We've planned to visit Menorca (also Cala Galdana) from 24th of September until 11th of October 2020. We pray with you that Corona is gone then. This will be the 19th time for us on Menorca. We were happy if we could meet you in the case of being there at the same time. Our hotel (Floramar) is about 500 meters away from Meliá.

It’d be great if this Coronavirus was clear by then, & it’d be great to meet up to say hi and maybe all of us have a drink 1 evening. I’d hopefully be with my Mum & 1 of my sons & his GF. Nico Wrobel Ich habe zwar schon in zwei verschiedenen Hotels auf Menorca gewohnt, aber ich denke, dass diese sich nicht so von der Masse abheben, dass sie hier besonders erwähnt werden müssen. Persönlich bevorzuge ich eher eine Ferienwohnung und Mietwagen.

die Insel wurde nicht vom Massentorismus verschont...man hat in den letzten 10 Jahren den Größenwahn bekommen und vieles was einmal Menorca ausmachte zerstört..Straßen ausgebaut, Kreisverkehre mitten in der Pampa...wenn ich Autobahn fahren möchte, bleibe ich zu Hause
