My first memory of cricket which i remember is itself 2003 wc. I was in 3rd std and we didn’t have TV at our home that time. But what made it special was My Dad bought a colour TV to watch WC. Having a colour TV was luxury at our locality at that time, i was so happy. We watched almost all matches including final. I still remember my Dad and my cousin who was a college student at that time were praying for rain but hard luck we lost. But that WC made interest in every late 90s kid. P.S:- After watching your video i asked my father that how did he managed to but a Colour TV at time with his low salary and he replied that he was saving money for almost a year just to buy tv to watch WC.

I remember my first glimpse of wc was in 1996 , and then I watched full wc in 1999 . I didn’t know what it feels like to be in finals of wc . Here comes 2003 , we played amazing cricket throughout that wc and we came second , highlight of that 2003 wc was with Pakistan , 1st march 2003 , Shivratri ka din tha , bhut maza aya tha , Nehra brilliance against England , Kaif and Dravid batting against NZ .

In the group league not only India lost to Aus, India struggled against Netherlands too. Scored just about 200 runs batting first. Then India went to Harare and played against Zimbabwe. Sachin played a fantastic knock and it was this win that gave the momentum to India. Then came the England match, the defining spell by Nehra but the ultimate match was the QF against Pakistan. Pak scored 270 + runs but that day Sachin played his best ever ODI knock. Wasim, Waqar, Shoaib, Razzak were taken to cleaners. There were useful contributions from Kaif, Dravid and Yuvi too.

I was 8 yrs old back than, and just like shubham I started watching cricket almost for a year at that time. I still remember my father's words after final "We lost only two matches in the WC, both were against Aus. In 1st we scored 125, in finals we scored 234 and the total is 359 -Kitna mast coincidence hai. Baaki ye Australian team ko yo sirf Bhagwaan hi haraa sakte hai, aur hum to sirf insaan hai" PS - at that time I thought everytime ball touches the below the knee, it's called LBW and shamelessly used that tactic in my gully cricket. (Sab maan bhi lete the, kyun ki bat Mera tha) 😅😅😅

Some fun facts - *2003 World Cup* - India lost only two matches in the main tournament. A group stage match against Australia and the Finals against Australia other than those 2 matches they won every game. *2015 World Cup* - India lost only 2 matches in the entire tournament (including Warm Up matches) : their 1st warm up match against Australia and their Semi final game, again, versus Australia. Other than that they were undefeated. 2019 - Nasser Hussain had predicted that whoever beats India in the tournament will win the tournament. India lost only 2 games - A group game against England and the Semi final against NZ ( The group match vs Nz was a wash out) So, 2 teams beat India but Nasser had claimed whoever beats India will win the tournament, so how can 2 teams be the Winners. As it goes, NZ and England tied the actual match, and then tied the Superover as well... so they couldn't be separated other than on technicalities. So 2 teams that beat India, tied in the FINALS

I remembered Dinesh Mongia bowled an arm ball to Ponting ,it hit the leg and clearly it will hit the stump but that Stev Buckner gave not out....and this match gave new idea of chasing run ...after first innings sachin came to dressing room and said we have hit 50 boundaries and then in 250 ball we have to score 160 run,a new way to chase the run but failed.

I was 12 year old than and final was on 23rd march and I had board exam starting on 24th March (8th class used to board in MP at that time). I was completely heart broken after final and couldn't concenrtate in exam on next day. My best memory of that world cup was Sachin's 98 against Pakistan , Nehra's bowling against England.

2003 World Cup was my first ever world cup seen in my childhood days . We had come to another village to watch the final match by walking several KM .But my heart broke for the first time because of the performance of India team against the giant Australia team. Ya BSNL choka is the best memory of my childhood days 😍😍.We use to listen to Radio commentry along with watching the match. Because radio is 1/2 ball ahad of the tv broadcasting.

My best memory attached to this world cup is... I went to Akola for shopping school shoes and in that shop they gave every customer the time table of 2003 CWC(small booklet sort of thing). Mujhe yaad hai 2003 wc final wale din ke agle din mera maths ka 10th board exam tha. Aur main itna zyaada depress ho gaya tha ke main poora exam he nahi de paya. 34 number aye the mere. Shayad examiner ne rehem karke grace marks de diye honge and I still can't watch that Tendulkar's dismissal 😢

Mujhe abhi bhi yaad hai ki main match ke agle din Ranchi jaa rha tha train se, us samay train me hindi akhbaar mil rhe the, to shayad mere papa ne Dainik Jagran ya Prabhat Khabar koi ek akhbaar kharida tha. Us me sports page ka ek heading abhi bhi yaad hai mujhe jisme likha tha 'Nehra ne dikhaya angrezon ko asli chehra'. Wo heading main aaj tak nhi bhula. Aur New Zealand ke ek bahut badhiya all rounder tha Craig Mcmilan, world cup ke pahle wale series me usne bhi kaafi rulaya tha India ko. Aur ek coincidence tha ki Australia ne pahle match me humko 125 pe all out Kiya tha aur phir final bhi 125 runs se jeeta tha.

I was 7 years old back then. But my whole family was so much into sports that I also started to love the game. I remember there was only 1 colour TV in the locality. That was bought by my father and uncles together to watch the 2002 FIFA. During any big tournament our house was filled with neighbours. We had so much fun. Also for the finals our club arranged for a projector to watch the match in big screen. There was almost 1000 people gatherd in the ground to cheer for India. A replica of a world cup trophy also made and fireworks were ready to celebrate. Miss those days.
