I had moved to Australia from Sri Lanka in the 80s after losing everything in the war. I was in 7th grade and this came on. It did something to me. It gave me joy. My English wasn’t good then, so I enjoyed the way it made me feel and sang along to the chorus. I went to college and did a degree for my parents but music was always my passion. Now I am a Grammy credited songwriter and record producer in Nashville, I still revert back to this for when I need a little piece of extra joy for the moment. I regret not thanking Greedy for this. Arrived in Australia in 85. A young kid on an expat posting from work. Covered the entire country, big cities & mining towns, within 12 months. Ansett 737s, Avis Corollas. This song was played endlessly. Every one horse town, every big city. Brisbane, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide. From Weipa to the Iron Triange, from the Isa to Roxby Downs. Driving on endless red dust roads at sunset, radio crackling and fading with distance. Breakfast radio driving over the Coathanger taking my GF to work at Australia Square. A dance in an empty bar with a miners wife. A kiss in a Melbourne nightclub. Fortitude Valley at 2am. A glance down a bar top, a smile to melt hearts. Someones ex wife in the Stoned Crow. Flying into Ranger over Kakadu, watching Crockodile Dundee days later. The 88 Expo, drinking in the Sherraton with the most beatiful girl I have ever seen. The Bicentenial on a blanket near the bridge. The 80s were amazing. I miss you all....

I LOVE this video. The singer looks like an 80s dating show host, and the guitarists look like they're out of "trainspotting" lmao. It's beautiful.

Dedicated to Declan, Paddy, Liam, Lenny and Peter. The last two are no longer with us. We solemnly remember the time we thought that they would travel to see Terry, ahh Terry, what a dream you were. With love from Billy's Boys in Glasgow. RIP WATP FGAU

How's that going for you now?

@@joegrayofhesselink89 Not too shabby, thanks for asking. We are losing a title race but at least we are not a club that will FOREVER be the club that allowed, encouraged and hid a 50 year long child abuse ring. We also don't have a statue to a man that knew about said sexual abuse ring. So how's it going for you?
@joegrayofhesselink896 ай бұрын
@@stewrmo I think you need to have a good look at the historic abuse and goings on at your own dead club before trying to point score on something as sick as child abuse ya weirdo.
