How sad so many were just tossed away. Their parents were the cause of this. My Aunt was a deaf mute. She was in the family and part of us. She helped my mom who was her twin raise not only us but all my nefews and neices. We loved her had our own way of talking with her. She passed away about 39 years ago but i will never forget all the love she gave us. She also help with my children. So much love in her heart.

My self being a disabled person, can't imagine why a parent would even consider putting their child in a place like Penhurst. It really bothers me, that back in the 50 and 60"s that people with a disabilities were looked at as freaks.

Its so disgusting how people just dropped off family members there to possibly never see them ever again and all because of the most absurd reasons like being left handed, or disagreeing to things or having dyslexia like Omar said! Its crazy!

Don't forget, doctors encouraged parents to have their disabled child sterilized. Doctors believed this would prevent more disabled people being born. Ignorance does terrible things.

Is there an accurate account of the number of deaths at pennhurst? I can never imagine going through the abuse that those people had to endure. And a lot of times that the family members just dropped them off and forgot about them. From Beverly Waxahachie Tx.

Felt nothing but total heartfelt remorse & sadness for those pure innocent souls who became victims of such disrespect, abuse & multiple cruelty😭 judgement day being their only revenge. So much accountability & exposure gone unnoticed until now. Thanks Omar, you men were over & beyond words of appreciation for exposing past neglect & cruelty to such vulnerable young, human beings❤🤍💙💛💚💜 In God We Trust, Amen

I live close to Pennhurst. In junior high we were forced to take a trip there for health class. I will never forget seeing a young, handsome male in his 20's who seemed perfectly normal in every way yet was a patient at this facility. He took an interest in our class and seemed to be observing us with longing to maybe be a part of who we were on the "outside" I will also never forget our confusion on the bus ride home as to why this young man was a patient. The only indication that he was in any way "different" was the patient shuffle he had learned to imitate. To this day I wonder what ever became of him. Pennhurst is now a "haunted attraction" at Halloween time. Very sad.

Some cultures would celebrate those born differently and treat them with dignity and respect. Some cultures and religions blamed the parents for delivering a disabled child. These parents could get divorced because of this shame, blame, and guilt. That stigmata would place pressure on the family. Ignorance and fear is horrible.

No matter how many times I’ve seen this episode, it never gets old and I think I heard some new stuff this time around. 👍 3:35 whisper. 3:39 haha, but not like a laugh it sounds deliberate. 18:20 yes my Nathan. 18:43 I need you. As Omar is talking, there’s another voice that says mom. (Male) 27:36 not many are here 27:55 look at the phone. 39:57 creepiest laugh ever!! 🤯 45:34 there’s a, hah! 51:50 in my right ear I heard a very faint muffled voice say, come in. 1:04:11 watch the wall next to Omar, there’s a white light/mist that goes by. I thought it was his head lamp but, he moves a few times after and it didn’t do it after. 1:09:23 I heard something say something as Carlos is talking and it’s not Omar either. 1:14:14 before Omar starts talking, you can hear a voice. 1:14:40 listen closely, a voice says, great.

If I may make a suggestion, why not bring walkie talkies and use those to confirm amongst each other to make confirmations upon entry into areas as well as to keeping them on throughout the investigations to see if there is any communication from the spirit realm to the living realm?
